Exploring the Pyramids in Basel

Hey everyone, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you have a day so far which has brought a lot of joy and maybe one or the other new experience into your life! Today I would like to share an experience with you which I made during my time in Basel and I am happy if you like my contribution.

When I explored the city of Basel I walked past these admirable pyramids which are located in the middle of the city and the next known building next to it is the famous theatre. The pyramids are also closely associated with the theatre and were created in the 20th century during the construction of it and the inspiration probably goes back to antiquity and I think it's associated with the pyramids of Ancient Egypt and these buildings are a great mixture of modern as well as old architecture. Officially, the square also belongs to the theatre and is nowadays an important cultural place for tourism which can of course be visited free of charge and thick glass plates were used for the construction. A few decades ago it was still a popular place for young people and especially the skateboarding scene often met here, but of course this was not popular with everyone in the long run and it came to the fact that a ban of skateboarding was spoken out.

To make skating more difficult, the city has taken some initiatives and in addition to the ban, has carried out some construction measures to keep the scene away from this place and even if I was not there during these times, I think that there was probably a lot of outcry at that time because some of big names from this scene met here. Today, the square is used from time to time as a meeting point for cultural purposes and in the heart of Basel at this place there are often artists from various areas who can spread their art here. It has also developed into an important location for gastronomy, which inspires people in many ways to go there and as a place with a high value of recognition, it fits perfectly with Basel and also combines facets of Ancient Egypt with modern art. Both during the day and in the evening it can be worthwhile to admire these architectural masterpieces and the unique thing is that they are even illuminated at night and immediately catch the eye by the strong color.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new! I captured these pictures with my Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens and iPhone 16.

They don't make much sense during the day, in the night they are very beautiful, but they should be integrated in something rather then just be there just for the sake of it

That’s true in any case! They look especially amazing at night when the colours also change.

That's a great way to discourage the skateboarders, and makes a beautiful landmark at night at the same time. Pyramids are certainly iconic and found around the world in ancient civilizations. They are still finding more and more pyramids in central America overgrown by jungle. It's amazing what humans were able to do in antiquity, they were far more clever than they are given credit for, that much is certain.

Beautiful pictures by the way, I'm glad you enjoyed Basel!

Yes I really did, Basel was great :) I myself have never been there but have already learned a lot about the pyramids of America in the past, it must be a great experience to visit it in real life.

Why are pyramids one of the great symbols of the city of Basel?

In any case, this part of the theatre has developed into an important cultural part of the city :)

I look at the pyramids and remember some movies I've seen related to Egypt, thinking that the people who built the pyramids at that time had nothing but their physical strength and they joined together to do it, definitely when human beings want we can

I’m glad you’re thinking about the intention behind it.
