Egyptian God Ptah
Hey dear Hive friends, first of all I hope you all had a good day and would also like to wish you a great start to the weekend! In this post I would like to write something about Egyptian mythology and hope you can learn something new.
Here you can see a small sculpture that presents the Egyptian god Ptah and I think that this small work of art was made very authentically and shows this god well! Ptah is known as a universal creator god and was also revered as the guardian god of artists and craftsmen. He was usually depicted in the form of a mummy as well as its typical scepter which was a symbol of power and he was also often presented with the well-known Ankh symbol which stands for eternal life and the Djed pillar.
Ptah is often also known as the father of all gods and an important place where he was highly appreciated was the first capital of Egypt which is located on the Nile Delta, Memphis. Also one of his most famous temples was there with the name Hout-ka-Ptah and another well-known temple of him was at Karnak in Luxor and in many other places such as in Abydos and more he was revered. Often he is also associated with the underworld and as creator god he has played an important role and even became known as the father of the great god Atum.
At that time, Memphis was also considered a central city for artists and Ptah was known to be artistically very talented and he even designed temples himself and his wife was the war goddess Sachmet, who was also often associated with fire. Ptah is also known to have created the creative abilities in general and cannot be described without reason as one of the most powerful gods of Ancient Egypt. In Greek mythology, Ptah was often equated with the god of blacksmithing Hephaestus and I find artworks like this really great and such works are always a perfect way to visualize the gods.

I have seen these kind of people in old egypt movies.
Thanks for your feedback :)
didn't know that Ptah was so revered in ancient Egypt, or that he was associated with so many different things.
I also like that you mentioned his wife, the war goddess Sachmet. I think it's interesting that a god of creation was married to a goddess of war. It shows that even the gods of ancient Egypt were complex and had many different aspects to their personalities.
I'm glad you included the disclaimer about Greek mythology. It's important to remember that mythology is not always accurate, but it can still be a valuable source of information about the beliefs and values of different cultures.
Thanks for your Feedback and have a great day :)
