Claraite Mineral
Good day dear community, I hope you all have a weekend that has brought numerous interesting experiences into your lifes! In this post I would like to bring you a mineral a little closer and hope you are interested in this topic and can learn new things.
This interesting-looking mineral is also known as Claraite and was first described during the 20th century where the first discoveries probably came from Germany from the Clara mine. The Clara mine is located in the Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg and it is also one of the most important active mines in the world which has been in operation for several hundred years and the first mentions of the mine date back to the 17th century. However, it is assumed that minerals were already mined in this area in Roman times and silver or copper had been mined there and the most common minerals of the mine are baryte and fluorite. Claraite is very interesting due to the complex chemical composition and it is relatively rare and from an economic point of view there are no special areas of application and it is particularly known in the circles of collectors. To date, less than 60 places of discovery are documented in writings and a typical property is the turquoise blue color and through impurities or additions with other minerals, it can take on different shades and it forms crystals that are only a few millimeters in size and it also tends to form a surface that has a typical shine and crust. The formation can be traced back to oxidation and can usually be found together with other minerals such as barite, malachite or fluorite and it is one of the minerals that have given this well-known mine an important additional meaning.
Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about minerals! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.
