Good day dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to welcome everyone to my contribution and hope you had a day full of positive experiences! In this post, I would like to go into a little more detail about a plant and hope you can expand your knowledge.

You can see here Arabian coffee which is also known under the scientific name Coffea arabica and it is a very old plant that is estimated to have been cultivated over 10000 years ago and the wild form originally comes from Ethiopia where it was traditionally cultivated under warm climate conditions. The word coffee is derived from the old Arabic word qahwah which means intoxicating drink and the first description of the genus can be traced back to the Swedish botanist and naturalist Carl Linnaeus (1707 - 1778) who described it for the first time in 1753. The exact history is not exactly known and many myths and legends revolve around the origin or history and it is assumed that in the 14th Century it has been spread more and more by Arab traders and at that time a tea was made from the leaves which had already vitalizing effects and only some time later in the same century, people began to harvest the seeds, roasted and boiled them and it was already widespread on the Arabian Peninsula at that time. In Europe, coffee was introduced in the 17th Century and Venetian merchants which also brought other important products to Europe ensured the spread and via Egypt it was brought more and more to Europe and the traders already learned from the locals how to prepare the plant and spread the knowledge in Europe.

At that time, coffee was still considered a kind of luxury good and was only reserved for noble and rich people and coffee is also strongly anchored with the history of the mills, which were of great importance to crush the beans. In Europe, the drink spread quickly and by English and Dutch sailors, coffee was spread more and more in colonies all over the world and coffee houses were built everywhere in European cities which improved access for the population and it did not take long to start more and more the commercial production and large industries opened up and nowadays this cult drink can be found in pretty much every household. The growth of the coffee plant is relatively inconspicuous and depending on the location can grow a few meters high and from about April it forms small white flowers and those who cultivate it as a houseplant should make sure that the place is not too much in the direct sun and you should pay attention to high humidity and temperature fluctuations should be avoided. During the warmer days, you should provide it with nutrients every week and pay attention to the right watering and waterlogging must be avoided and it reacts sensitively to frost and should be in a bright location in winter and one reason to cultivate it is also the air-purifying effect as it is able to filter different pollutants from the air.
