A traditional Pepper farm on Phú Quốc

Hey dear community, at the beginning of my post I would like to welcome every reader and hope you had a great weekend so far! Today I would like to share something about my trip to Vietnam with you again and am happy if you appreciate what I do.

In Vietnam I got to know so many traditional places and those who follow my contributions know that I also have learned a lot about different cultures in other countries. Vietnam was really formative on my journey because I not only had a lot of contact with locals, but could experience pretty much all facets of the country and also on the island of Phú Quốc I could see some aspects of it. Phú Quốc was my last stop in Vietnam and to be honest the first two days did not fascinate me so much because everything was extremely touristy and there were many resorts here but this experience was quickly topped when I started to leave these zones to explore the island more. Phú Quốc is known for the fact that pepper is grown here and some of the farms can even be visited and one day I decided to make this experience and go here by Grab.

There are different farms as mentioned, but I decided to choose one which was a bit rural on the island, which is why it can be difficult to come back, but I was lucky that a Grab car was also available here, which proves how well the system works in Vietnam and the taxi service often works in rural areas. When I arrived at the farm, I was already greeted kindly with samples of pepper and there were drinks to welcome me before we started with the tour. I did not book anything in advance and paid a small contribution on site in which was also so much was included and in addition to the tour there was also a delicious meal as well as traditional drinks and later I could also move freely on the farm alone.

The tour lasted about an hour and there was not only pepper to explore but also other plants that were grown here and I especially liked that many things could also be tested and it was extremely instructive. It's also important to understand why the pepper grows so well here, which can definitely be traced back to the good weather conditions, which also includes the warm but also humid climate and the plants grow so well here, which is also noticeable in the quality. The quality of the pepper is at such a high level and also full of variety when it comes to the strains and mainly the black, white as well as red pepper is cultivated here.

I was able to not only learn how it is cultivated on the farm, but also to see live how farmers are currently harvesting and processing the pepper and the interesting thing is also to see that this is a centuries-old tradition that pepper is grown on the island and of course I could also buy the finished product which comes directly from the farm and was of course much cheaper. The pepper can also be bought in other places on the island such as the markets and on the farms themselves there is often the opportunity to do courses where visitors can also learn about the traditional cuisine. Moments like these were one of the best on my trip in Vietnam to immerse myself in the culture and tradition of the country and I hope I could motivate with this contribution even someone to travel to the island to see how the pepper is grown which people in the world consume daily.
