Yesterday we went for a walk to the book and souvenir fair on Krupskaya Street, which is the second time on this trip)
Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it(
We bought a lot of things for sale, including souvenirs and sketchbooks (an illness of all artists), some clothes in a Buddhist bookstore. At the end of the walk went to the geek store (a different one, not the one we went to last time). I didn't leave without buying something this time either! The funny thing is that when I took the book in my hand and decided to look through it, to understand how much I want it, then guess on the page with whom I opened it?) I saw David, and then it was like a dream - I found myself standing near the seller and holding out the card.)
In the evening thumbed through the book thoroughly and realized that it is one of the best in my collection. First of all, I really love science fiction! And the book is dedicated to it, and secondly, it is built in the form of interviews with famous directors - including my idol Ridley Scott, although I love and respect all the directors represented in this book. But Ridley is still special to me - he created important worlds and characters for me. And the themes he raises in his films really move me. Well, the interview was conducted by James Cameron - and he's my second favorite director after Ridley, so the conversation between them was very interesting.
And about the content of the book - I started reading it and it's very interesting! And the topics they discuss are really important... for example with Ridley Scott, James talked about Artificial Intelligence, that when there are intelligent androids there will be a number of ethical issues, including that owning such beings is in fact slavery and what to do about it, etc. And as it turns out, the word "robot" itself has Czech roots and comes from "slave", "penal servitude". A lot has been written about alien beings and possible contact with them and how this is revealed through the cinematography. As Ridley Scott said, cinema is a way of asking the question "What if?" and discussing the subject... And about the quality of the publication - it's at the top, the pages are thick, the printing is crisp, the layout is very nice. If that guys - we looked this book can be ordered on Ozone, it certainly is not cheap, but its money just worth it. Well, as I read the book is based on a series of documentary interviews with James Cameron. I will definitely look at them!
