The potato plants are blooming.
The potato plants are blooming.
And at our summer cottage, the potatoes are already blooming.
We planted them early and watered them. Now the plants have grown and started to bloom. I hope we’ll have a good potato harvest. Because I really love potatoes. You can make lots of delicious things with potatoes. One of the tastiest dishes is pan-fried potatoes—I love them with onions. You can also bake them in the oven, like French-style potatoes. They’re also used to make mashed potatoes. At our house, we make mashed potatoes as a main dish for holidays. Potatoes are added to soup and borscht. Potato pies are delicious, too.
Potatoes come in different sizes—some are large, and some are small—depending on the harvest. The main thing is to water them regularly. You also need to make sure the Colorado potato beetle doesn’t infest them. The Colorado potato beetle is a striped beetle that eats potatoes. Another pest that affects potatoes is the mole cricket. So you need to keep an eye out to prevent these problems. You need to remove them by hand or use special pesticides.
Take good care of your potatoes, and they’ll reward you with a bountiful harvest.
You also need to pull weeds around the potatoes. And when the plant gets bigger, use a hoe to gently move the soil toward the plant so the roots aren’t exposed.
