Touring Caracas with my family✨ || Recorriendo Caracas con mi familia✨
Hello again, Hivers!💖
I had mentioned before that I currently live in the city of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, however, I was born in the capital of the country, in Caracas. This is where most of my family lives, so all my life I have divided my love between both cities.
Christmas time is my favorite time of the year, and the most meaningful thing for me is to spend those days with my family. So as in previous years, my parents, my sister and I made a five-hour trip to get to the capital and experience Christmas with our loved ones. It was a week-long trip where we walked around different places in the city that I am excited to show you🥺.
We arrived on Monday 19th, tired and very hungry, so this day was just for rest and catching up with the family. The night of Tuesday the 20th was very long, full of walking, from 5 pm until 12 am we were touring the city. The first stop was at Plaza Francia in Altamira, there we took a lot of pictures with the decoration, we sat down to talk and laugh (because in this family laughter is never lacking).

Ya había mencionado anteriormente que actualmente vivo en la ciudad de Barquisimeto, Venezuela, sin embargo, nací en la capital del país, en Caracas. Aquí vive la gran mayor parte de mi familia, así que toda mi vida he dividido mi amor entre ambas ciudades.
La época navideña es mi favorita del todo el año, y lo más significativo para mí es pasar esos días junto a mi familia. Así que como años anteriores mis padres, mi hermana y yo hicimos un viaje de cinco horas para llegar a la capital y vivir la navidad con nuestros seres queridos. Fue un viaje de una semana donde paseamos por diferentes sitios de la ciudad que me emociona mostrarles🥺
Llegamos el lunes 19, cansados y con mucha hambre, por lo cual este día solo fue de descanso y ponerse al día con la familia. La noche del martes 20 fue muy larga, llena de paseos, desde las 5 pm hasta las 12 am estuvimos recorriendo la ciudad. La primera parada fue en la Plaza Francia en Altamira, allí nos tomamos un montón de fotos con la decoración, nos sentamos a hablar y a reír (porque en esta familia las risas jamás faltan).

From there we went to Plaza San Jacinto because we were already a little hungry, we had a hot chocolate and obviously there were more pictures, but we were still hungry, so we went to the famous Plaza Venezuela to eat hot dogs. According to my family caraqueño who respects himself has eaten a hot dog here 😂

Wednesday December 21st was the day chosen to make the Hallacas (typical Christmas food in my country), we have the custom of making the hallacas days before the 24th, and we follow very specific steps, some of them are family secrets, that my paternal grandmother left us in charge. This is always a special moment for everyone because it reminds us of her, during the whole process we listen to music and tell family anecdotes. And at the end comes the most awaited, the moment to taste the hallacas (as always, they are the best hallacas I've ever tasted ❤). We also took advantage of the moment to celebrate the Spirit of Christmas, sitting all in the living room to write our 21 wishes.
El miércoles 21 de diciembre fue el día elegido para hacer las Hallacas (comida navideña típica de mi país), tenemos la costumbre de hacer las hallacas días antes del 24, y seguimos unos pasos muy específicos, algunos de ellos son secretos familiares, que mi abuela paterna nos dejó a cargo. Este siempre es un momento especial para todos porque nos recuerda a ella, durante todo el proceso escuchamos música y contamos anécdotas de la familia. Y al final llega lo más esperado, el momento de probar las hallacas (como siempre, son las mejores hallacas que he probado ❤). También aprovechamos el momento para celebrar el Espíritu de la navidad, sentándonos todos en la sala a escribir nuestros 21 deseos.

Thursday, December 22 was the day that left me the most tired, but that's to be expected after going to the beach. Caracas has many things that I love, and one of them is that in half an hour you are on the beaches of La Guaira. I don't know how to swim (and I hate not knowing how) but beaches have always seemed like a magical place to me, and Venezuelan beaches are beautiful; however, in La Guaira are not my favorite beaches, because the water is cold, but it is a detail that is forgotten with all the fun.
First we made a very important stop to have some fish stuffed empanadas for breakfast, and they were delicious, and the service was very good. This time we went to Playa Surfista, there were very few people, but too many dogs that belonged to the man in charge of taking care of everything. There were also many crabs, so many that there was a moment when we sat down to eat while we watched them (they came out when everything was calm).
El Jueves 22 de diciembre fue el día que me dejó más cansada, pero es lo que se espera luego de ir a la playa. Caracas tiene muchas cosas que me encantan, y entre esas es que en media hora ya estás en las playas de La Guaira. Yo no sé nadar (y odio no saber) pero las playas siempre me han parecido un lugar mágico, y las playas venezolanas son hermosas; sin embargo, en La Guaira no están mis playas favoritas, porque el agua es fría, pero es un detalle que se olvida con toda la diversión.
Primero hicimos una parada muy importante para desayunar unas empanadas rellenas de pescado, y estaban deliciosas, además que la atención fue muy buena. En esta ocasión fuimos a Playa Surfista, había muy poca gente, pero demasiados perros que pertenecían al señor encargado de cuidar todo. También había muchos cangrejos, tantos que hubo un momento en que nos sentamos a comer mientras los veíamos (salían cuando todo estaba en calma).

When evening came we went for a walk along the Cinta Costera of La Guaira, we passed by the new baseball stadium that belongs to the team of the Tiburones de La Guaira (and it really looks impressive). And next to it is the big Ferris wheel, recently inaugurated as El Ojo de la Guaira. Unfortunately, we couldn't go up because it was already getting late to go back to Caracas, but it's pending for a next trip 😕
My family lives in different parts of Caracas, and my aunt's house where we were staying is the farthest, so that night each car took the direction to her house and my aunt that day could not accompany us to the beach; we have been living in Barquisimeto for many years so my parents did not remember very well the streets of Caracas (and driving in Caracas is a total mess, that is an advantage that Barquisimeto has) so what had to happen happened, we got lost. I don't know where we got to, and getting lost in an unknown place in Caracas, is to panic, but bless Google Maps that got us out of that place and we found our way home (an hour later, but we found it) 😯
Cuando llegó la noche fuimos a pasear por la Cinta Costera de La Guaira, pasamos por el nuevo estadio de beisbol que pertenece al equipo de los Tiburones de La Guaira (y de verdad se ve impresionante). Y al lado se encuentra la gran rueda de la fortuna, recientemente inaugurada como El Ojo de La Guaira. Lamentablemente, no pudimos subir porque ya se estaba haciendo tarde para regresar a Caracas, pero queda pendiente para un próximo viaje 😕
Mi familia vive en distintas partes de Caracas, y la casa de mi tía donde nos estábamos quedando es la que queda más lejos, así que esa noche cada carro tomó la dirección hacia su casa y mi tía ese día no nos pudo acompañar a la playa; llevamos muchos años viviendo en Barquisimeto así que mis padres no recordaban muy bien las calles de Caracas (y manejar en Caracas es un total enredo, esa es una ventaja que tiene Barquisimeto) así que pasó lo que tenía que pasar, nos perdimos. No sé a donde llegamos, y perderse en un sitio desconocido en Caracas, es para entrar en pánico, pero bendito sea Google Maps que nos sacó de ese lugar y encontramos el camino a casa (una hora después, pero lo encontramos) 😯

Our plan was to go out every day, enjoy the vacations, and Dec 23rd would be no exception. We went to visit the museums in Caracas because my sister and I were obsessed with going, especially I wanted to visit the Museum of Natural Sciences, I had already gone as a kid, but I don't remember it very well anymore. But unfortunately they were all closed 😭 In order not to miss the trip we went into Los Caobos Park, I really liked the place, being next to the museums there were many people who had that vibe of artists (and I know very well how that vibe is because in my university deanship is included the career of Plastic Arts), there was also a very warm and relaxing atmosphere.
Nuestro plan era salir todos los días, disfrutar las vacaciones, y el 23 de diciembre no sería la excepción. Fuimos a visitar los museos de Caracas porque mi hermana y yo estábamos obsesionadas con ir, especialmente yo quería visitar el Museo de Ciencias Naturales, ya había ido de niña, pero ya no lo recuerdo muy bien. Pero lamentablemente todos estaban cerrados 😭 Para no perder el viaje entramos al Parque Los Caobos, realmente me gustó el lugar, al estar a un lado de los museos había muchas personas que tenían esa vibra de artistas (y sé muy bien como es esa vibra porque en mi decanato de la universidad está incluida la carrera de Artes Plásticas), también había un ambiente muy cálido y relajante.

While waiting for the whole family combo to finish arriving (although this day not everyone was with us) we enjoyed some very rich chocolate milkshakes and a very interesting drink called "Agua de Amor", maybe it works because I fell in love with the place and with all of Caracas😂

The most awaited day was December 24, where we had a big sleepover; however, I already commented about that special day in a previous post, I could only add that from that day on we were waiting for the birth of a new member of the family, but baby Lucas decided he wanted to be born on December 31. My cousins and I were raised as siblings and we are very close, he is the first baby of one of them and we all love him like a nephew ❤
On the 25th we didn't do much because we were tired, we were just 20+ people in an apartment talking and eating, that night my cousins and I decided to watch horror movies for no reason, it just triggered us.
El día más esperado era el 24 de diciembre, donde hicimos una gran fiesta de pijamas; sin embargo, ya comente sobre ese día tan especial en un post anterior, solo podría agregar que a partir de ese día estábamos en la espera del nacimiento de un nuevo integrante de la familia, pero el bebé Lucas decidió que quería nacer un 31 de diciembre. Mis primos y yo nos criamos como hermanos y somos muy unidos, es el primer bebé de uno de ellos y todos lo queremos como un sobrino ❤
El 25 no hicimos mucho porque estábamos cansados, simplemente éramos más de 20 personas en un apartamento hablando y comiendo, esa noche mis primos y yo decidimos ver películas de terror sin ningún motivo alguno, solo nos provocó.
And on the last day of this wonderful week, the 26th of December, we all got together in another house (there are so many of us, and everyone wanted to give their house for the meetings) to prepare a big lunch, and it was three giant pastichos. We played video games and Pictionary, it should be noted that my sister and I were team and we had a great triumph (it was not something fair because we both love to draw, but that's life 😬). In the evening we visited a place I was dying to know, which was a kitty cafe, for me it was a paradise, but that story is also in another previous post.
Y en el último día de esta semana tan maravillosa, el 26 de diciembre, nos reunimos todos en otra casa (es que somos muchos, y todos querían dar su casa para las reuniones) para preparar un gran almuerzo, y fueron tres pastichos gigantes. Jugamos videojuegos y Pictionary, cabe destacar que mi hermana y yo éramos equipo y tuvimos un gran triunfo (no fue algo justo porque ambas amamos dibujar, pero así es la vida 😬). En la noche visitamos un lugar que moría por conocer, que era una cafetería de gatitos, para mí era un paraíso, pero esa historia también está en otro post anterior.

And with this I end the story of a week of walks throughout the great Caracas with my family, although we were more than a dozen people were still missing several who are now in another country; however, communication was always present with video calls and through our family WhatsApp group, but being honest I will tell you that everyone was missing a lot, because our Christmases were gigantic and beautiful, and this one was too, but the day we will be all together again will be a party without end ❤ By the way, I am delighted with Barquisimeto and grateful for everything I have here, but traveling to Caracas is always something that fills me with energy.

Y con esto finalizo la historia de una semana de paseos por toda la gran Caracas junto a mi familia, a pesar de que éramos más de una docena de personas aún faltaban varios que ahora se encuentran en otro país; sin embargo, la comunicación siempre estuvo presente con videollamadas y por nuestro grupo familiar de WhatsApp, pero siendo sincera les diré que todos hicieron mucha falta, porque nuestras navidades eran gigantescas y hermosas, y esta también lo fue, pero el día que volvamos a estar todos juntos será una fiesta sin fin ❤ Por cierto, yo estoy encantada con Barquisimeto y agradecida con todo lo que tengo aquí, pero viajar a Caracas siempre es algo que me llena de energía.
