[Monomad] Daphnis Nerii : Shoots are my food, I hang like Spiderman 😀

Hello Hive Lovers...

This afternoon, I intended to water the jasmine flowers next to my house. However, I noticed that the jasmine flowers were getting dry and the leaves were starting to disappear. I don't know what caused it, I don't know. In the end, it was the twitching green color that caught my attention. It turned out that the caterpillars that ate the shoots and leaves had ravenously eaten the shoots and leaves. After I saw the caterpillar had eaten the leaves of the flower plants that we took excellent care of, I was so upset and angry.

Even last night, I could still see the lush, thick leaves of the flower plants. But behind my annoyance, it turns out that the caterpillars actually attracted my attention. In Indonesia, we know them as caterpillar shoots, but botanically, I found out that this caterpillar is named Daphnis Nerii. In the science of caterpillar metamorphosis, it turns out that this caterpillar is the forerunner of the Army Moth that I got yesterday here. Well, in the end, this caterpillar taught me a valuable lesson about the flawless metamorphosis of this caterpillar.

When you look closely, the caterpillar appears very beautiful in terms of color, but I'd like to try it in black and white. In macro, the colors look splendid because the horns are yellow, the spots are dark, and there is a striking green color. In black and white, I included some charming poses of this caterpillar, including hanging like Spiderman and walking like a classic train with its carriages together.

The caterpillars' bodies are soft when I hold them, though sometimes they look creepy, like the sadistic monsters in movies. I even dared to pry it down and not let it climb back up the jasmine flower. When I first saw this flower, I was planning to destroy it to save the leaves and shoots, but I delayed and took my camera instead.

For your information, leaf-eating caterpillars are very active during dark or humid weather, especially at night. At that time, this caterpillar will consume as many plant leaves as possible until the leaves of the plant are exhausted or bald. That is why the caterpillar's body changes very quickly because it never stops eating. Well, maybe tomorrow after I find the poison, I will spray it on this flower. It's a tough choice but it has to be made to save the flower and this caterpillar is a pest so it doesn't spread to other flowers.

I also carried out an experiment with this caterpillar. What if I put it on a decorative bamboo leaf? However, the caterpillar just wandered around rather than nibbling on the young leaves. The caterpillar deliberately dropped and walked on the ground as if it knew which plant it was heading for. After a bit of reading, this caterpillar only eats the shoots of certain plants. There are photos of caterpillars in this post that appear on a variety of leaves, such as ornamental bamboo branches, the ground, grass, and jasmine flowers.

So, hopefully some of the pictures I got are useful and don't violate photography's rules. You know, I'm still a beginner.
