My Experience at the International Book Fair in Bogota 2023 // Mi Experiencia en la Feria Internacional del Libro en Bogotá 2023
El hábito de leer lo acompaño desde muy pequeño gracias a mi mamá que nos fomentó la lectura con cuentos infantiles y pequeños versículos de la biblia, es desde entonces que he tenido un gran amor por tener libros y leer parte de ellos, gracias a los libros que han llegado a mi vida como “el caballero de la armadura oxidada” o como “los genios no nacen se hacen” puedo decir que me han cambiado la vida.
The habit of reading has been with me since I was very young thanks to my mother who encouraged us to read with children's stories and small verses from the bible, since then I have had a great love for having books and reading part of them, thanks to the books that have come into my life as "the knight in rusty armor" or as "geniuses are not born are made" I can say that they have changed my life.
Es por esto que cada vez que tengo la posibilidad cuál sea me compro un libro, los leo lo releo y consigo extraer “algo” que me nutra que me sirva para mi día a día, hoy por hoy soy lo que los libros, la lectura, algunos escritores han influido en mí, por esta razón voy a bibliotecas, librerías, y ferias para conseguir ese alimento que me nutra de conocimiento, al el alma y al espíritu.
That is why every time I have the possibility to buy a book, I read it, I reread it and I get to extract "something" that nourishes me and that serves me for my day to day, today I am what books, reading, some writers have influenced me, for this reason I go to libraries, bookstores, and fairs to get that food that nourishes me with knowledge, soul and spirit.
En esta oportunidad, por segunda vez consecutiva, visite la feria del libro en Bogotá, en su 35.ª edición de este año, el país invitado de honor fue México y la ciudad invitada fue la Ciudad de Cali, algo nuevo para la feria, tuvo un valor de 11.000 pesos colombianos unos 2,5 dólares la entrada, fui con mi pareja y una amiga a ver que nos deparara la Filbo.
This time, for the second consecutive time, I visited the book fair in Bogota, in its 35th edition this year, the guest of honor was Mexico and the guest city was the city of Cali, something new for the fair, had a value of 11,000 Colombian pesos about 2.5 dollars the entrance, I went with my partner and a friend to see what the Filbo had in store for us.
A little bit about the history of Filbo // Un poco sobre la historia de la Filbo
La Feria Internacional del Libro de Bogotá (FILBo) surge con la unión de las iniciativas del Instituto Distrital de Cultura y Turismo de Bogotá con la Cámara del Libro, su primera edición fue en el año 1988, desde el año 2012, la filbo ha tenido un país invitado de honor en cada edición, lo que ha permitido que se conozcan mejor las literaturas y culturas de diferentes países, algunos de los países invitados han sido Argentina, Brasil, México, España y Francia, en 2019, la Filbo alcanzó un récord de asistencia con más de 600.000 visitantes en sus 14 días de duración, además la feria ofrece una gran variedad de actividades culturales, como presentaciones de libros, charlas con escritores, talleres para niños y adultos, conciertos, exposiciones y muestras de cine.
The International Book Fair of Bogota (FILBo) arises with the union of the initiatives of the District Institute of Culture and Tourism of Bogota with the Chamber of Books, its first edition was in 1988, since 2012, the filbo has had a guest country of honor in each edition, which has allowed the literatures and cultures of different countries to be better known, some of the guest countries have been Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and France, in 2019, the Filbo reached an attendance record with more than 600. Como es habitual Colferias es el lugar donde se realiza la Filbo cada año, desde las 10 de la mañana, hasta puede llegar a culminar las 11 de la noche desde el 18 de abril hasta el 2 de mayo, también como es de costumbre en esta etapa del año llueve a cada rato y llovió, nos fuimos abrigados y con paraguas, siempre vemos con anticipación el cronograma de actividades para programar el día, lo primero que hicimos es visitar los grandes salones porque es donde están la mayor cantidad de stand o puestos de exhibición de libros, objetos, recuerdos, actividades e innovación, se encontraban stand de países que muestran la calidad literaria, aproveche y busque el stand de Venezuela aunque era promocionado por el gobierno bolivariano había muchas obras de Rómulo Gallego y Cesar Renjifo, seguimos paseando y me regalaron una postal de Tanjiro en Olio de un anime que me gusta mucho, y para salir del gran salón al igual que el año pasado tuvimos una cita a ciegas con un libro, que se trata de comprar 3 libros a un precio promocional donde están totalmente cubiertos sin saber ni el título y el género, solo que con suerte te toca uno de tu agrado, en mi caso los tres libros que me tocaron fueron, 1 el séptimo lote (actualmente lo estoy leyendo, es interesante) 2 el catálogo del universo y 3 a orillas del mar blanco, de verdad que me gusto mucho los que me tocaron, iré leyendo poco a poco para ver que me atrae de esos libros.
As usual Colferias is the place where the Filbo takes place every year, from 10 in the morning until 11 at night from April 18 to May 2, also as usual at this stage of the year it rains all the time and it rained, we went warm and with umbrellas, we always see in advance the schedule of activities to schedule the day, The first thing we did was to visit the large halls because that is where the largest number of stands or exhibition booths of books, objects, souvenirs, activities and innovation, there were stands of countries that show the literary quality, I took advantage and looked for the stand of Venezuela although it was promoted by the Bolivarian government there were many works of Romulo Gallego and Cesar Renjifo, We continued walking around and they gave me a postcard of Tanjiro en Olio from an anime that I like very much, and to leave the great hall like last year we had a blind date with a book, which is to buy 3 books at a promotional price where they are fully covered without knowing the title and genre, In my case the three books that I got were, 1 the seventh lot (I am currently reading it, it is interesting) 2 the catalog of the universe and 3 on the shores of the white sea, I really liked the ones I got, I will read little by little to see what attracts me of those books.
Mexicolombia the Guest of Honor // Mexicolombia el Invitado de Honor
En esta edición fue la tercera vez que México fue el invitado de honor en el Filbo, el gran salón, México me dejo maravillado con la impresionante arquitectura interna y externa del espacio, además contenía un stand de libros de autores mexicanos y diferentes secciones artísticas mexicanas, una sección de comida mix Colombiana y Mexicana y un gran mural de los años de relación bilaterales entre los dos países.
This was the third time that Mexico was the guest of honor at the Filbo, the great hall, Mexico left me amazed with the impressive internal and external architecture of the space, also contained a stand of books by Mexican authors and different Mexican artistic sections, a section of Colombian and Mexican food mix and a large mural of the years of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Workshop: Flavors of Colombia "Food from San Andres Island". // Taller: Sabores de Colombia “Comida de san Andrés, isla”
Tuvimos el agrado de estar en el taller en la carpa sabores de Colombia con el chef Jorge Pulgar, me gusto mucho, no conocía de la gastronomía de la isla de San Andrés y la influencia de los británicos en épocas de conquista colonial, en materia el chef demostró en cocina en vivo un plato tradicional de la isla que es el cebiche de caracol pala, mostró los ingredientes, la receta y el procedimiento para que al final nos da una pequeña degustación, me parecía muy rico y un sabor parecido al pulpo, contenía cebolla blanca picada, ajíes picados, torsos de plátano maduro frito, caracol pala picado en cubos y una salsa de leche de coco, muy delicioso a mi parecer.
We had the pleasure of being in the workshop in the tent flavors of Colombia with the chef Jorge Pulgar, I liked it very much, I did not know the gastronomy of the island of San Andres and the influence of the British in times of colonial conquest, in matter the chef demonstrated in live cooking a traditional dish of the island which is the cebiche of snail shovel shell, He showed the ingredients, the recipe and the procedure and at the end he gave us a small tasting, I found it very rich and a taste similar to octopus, it contained chopped white onion, chopped peppers, fried ripe plantain torsos, snail chopped into cubes and a coconut milk sauce, very delicious in my opinion.
Conference and presentation of the book Frontera Común // Conferencia y presentación del Libro Frontera Común
Para las 5 de la tarde tuvimos el placer de asistir a la conferencia impartida por la moderadora sueca Helena Storn con las participantes del libro frontera común Dayana Palmar de Venezuela, Alexandra Villegas de Colombia y Sylvia Aguilar de México, donde expusieron realidad y anécdotas de la vida en las fronteras de Colombia y Venezuela además de la de México y Estado unidos, muy ameno el encuentro y bien expuesto las llamadas “realidades fronterizas” de estos países hermanos al finalizar nos otorgaron el libro gratis y una buena taza de café.
At 5 pm we had the pleasure of attending the conference given by the Swedish moderator Helena Storn with the participants of the book "Common Border" Dayana Palmar from Venezuela, Alexandra Villegas from Colombia and Sylvia Aguilar from Mexico, where they exposed reality and anecdotes of life on the borders of Colombia and Venezuela as well as Mexico and the United States, very enjoyable meeting and well exposed the so-called "border realities" of these sister countries at the end we were given the book for free and a good cup of coffee.
