Banana Stalk Flies

This fly gave me another type of difficulty when I tried to take photos of it. This is the Banana Stalk Fly or Telostylinus lineolatus species of fly from the Neriidae family. They fall into the same family as the stilt-legged fly that I have made a post about in the past.

While most of the flies or insects that I try to photograph will fly away when I approach them, this one is a little bit different. They let me get close and even look comfortable when my lens was so close to them. so I assume that I will get a sharp image of this kind of behavior from this insect.

But boy I was wrong.. . .

It moves so fast, maybe when it hears the sound of my shutter blade moving it jumps a little bit, and then resulting in an out-of-focus image since it moves away from the focus point that I intended to.

It happened most of the time during that photoshoot, that is the reason despite what seems like a tame behavior, I could not get very sharp images of this little fly.
