Our Travel to Boljoon, Cebu to attend a Birthday Celebration and Unexpected Visit to A Historical Church

Hello Hivers, my name is @eijnuj06, and I am back with another blog article. I'd like to share our travel to Boljoon (southern part of Cebu) where we attended a birthday celebration and visited the historical Catholic Church, Nuestra Señora de Patrocinio.

We and the team planned to visit one of our workmate home in Boljoon, Cebu, because he had invited us to his birthday, so the team chipped in money and rented a van to get there.

I left early in the morning to go to my workplace for assembly.

Before we arrive at my workmate's hometown, we will travel for 2-3 hours from Cebu City, depending on traffic, passing through various towns along Cebu's coastline road, including Minglanilla, Naga, San Fernando, Argao and Oslob.

When we arrived in Argao, Cebu, we stopped at Kosina Alexandra for breakfast. They serve a variety of tasty Filipino foods, have a large dining space, and offer roadside parking. Squid (lumayagan), tinolang / nilarang na isda (Fish Soup), and kinilaw (raw fish in vinegar) were some of my favorite dishes. We also invite our van driver to eat with us. We thoroughly liked our meal at Kosina Alexandra, which left us quite full.

Then we continued our journey. While on our way to my coworker's house, we noticed a beautiful church in Boljoon and stopped there around 10:30 a.m. It was my first visit, and I was pleasantly pleased by how serene and beautiful the surroundings were. There were few people around, so the atmosphere was serene and relaxing.

The church itself is very old but well-maintained. It's one of those churches that makes you pause and reflect on how simple and meaningful the church is. Because it was such a short stop, we were unable to photograph the interior of the church. The church is immediately next to the road, and across from it is an open space where you may sit, relax, or simply enjoy the scenery.

In front of the Church, we cross the road and found an Instagrammable area to shoot group shots with a wonderful view of the ocean. It was a lovely moment—silent, breezy, and calm. It's an excellent place to unwind after a long drive or take a rest while admiring the scenery. If you're passing through Boljoon, I recommend taking a few minutes to visit the church.

We went to our workmate's home, which was not far away from the church. He prepared great food for us, including Lechon (roasted whole pig), Pansit Bihon, Grilled Pork and Fish, and crackers. Our tiring journey had been worthwhile, and we deserved a fantastic lunch as a treat.

After lunch, we drink Fundador Light and celebrate his birthday with some karaoke.

We give thanks to my workmate for the invitation and exactly 4 pm we decided to go home in Cebu City, were all exhausted and a little bit dizzy from being somewhat drunk, were all asleep inside the van, and we even recognized that we had arrived already in Cebu City around 7 p.m. since the driver had notified us that we were almost there.
