The Light That Never Goes Out ESP/ENG

Recently, my daughter asked me, "Dad, why do the lights in the church stay on at night when everyone is asleep?"
It was a curious question and not an easy one to answer, so I had to start by explaining the idea of a symbol.

Hace poco mi hija me preguntó: "Papá, ¿por qué si es de noche y todos están dormidos las luces de la iglesia siguen prendidas?"
Una pregunta curiosa que no fue fácil de responder, así que tuve que explicarle la idea de símbolo para empezar.

The church, as a symbol of God's house, cannot turn off its lights because it must represent God's omnipresence—always there to accompany and be with us.
It was very interesting for me to answer that question and find a way to help her understand the idea of God, especially because it's not a concept I use regularly.

La iglesia como símbolo de la casa de Dios no puede apagar sus luces porque debe representar la omnipresencia de Dios, que siempre nos acompaña y está para nosotros.
Fue muy interesante para mí responderle esa pregunta y buscar cómo hacerle entender la idea de Dios porque no es un concepto que emplee regularmente.

The couple appearing in these photos has an active presence in the church, and it was important for them that this be reflected somehow.
I feel deep admiration for people who live and express their faith, but personally, I haven't found my faith tied to the Christian concept of it.

La pareja que aparece en estas fotografías tiene una presencia activa en la iglesia y era importante para ellos que se viese reflejado algo de esto.
Siento profunda admiración por las personas que sienten y viven su fe, pero yo personalmente no he encontrado mi fe atada al concepto cristiano de esta.

God is important to me, but in a different way.
I try to keep Him present and connect with my faith, but since it's something I'm still working through, I haven't focused much on transmitting it to my daughters yet.
I hope to eventually share my idea of faith with them so that they can feel it for themselves and live a dignified life—or at least one where they feel fulfilled and accompanied by God.

Dios es importante para mí, pero no de esa manera.
Trato de tenerlo presente y conectar con mi fe, pero como es algo que estoy resolviendo, no he hecho hincapié en transmitirle eso a mis hijas.
Espero poder transmitirles mi idea de fe para que puedan sentirla y vivir una vida digna, o por lo menos donde ellas se sientan plenas y con Dios acompañándolas.
