The Journey of Presence: Learning to Be a Father ESP/ENG

"A father is he who raises." This saying is quite common here because many biological fathers often leave or are absent. And I myself have been very absent with my daughters, even though I'm physically present, I haven't known how to be truly there in every moment.

"Papá es el que cría," eso se dice mucho aquí porque muchos papás biológicos aquí se van, son ausentes. Y yo mismo he sido muy ausente con mis hijas, a pesar de que estoy, pero no he sabido cómo ser presente en todos los momentos.

I believe that learning to be present isn't easy, nor is it necessarily intuitive or where logic and common sense simply apply. Instead, it's something that involves all of the above simultaneously, and that's where many fathers fail.

Creo que aprender a ser presente no es algo que sea fácil ni necesariamente intuitivo, o donde la lógica y el sentido común actúen, sino que es algo que involucra todas las anteriores al mismo tiempo, y es allí donde muchos padres fallamos.

I had to learn so many things because of my daughters, and today I continue to learn things for them and thanks to them. Without a doubt, they've made me a better person, and they still don't know the incredible impact they have on me. That's why I strive to be present for them.

Yo tuve que aprender muchísimas cosas por mis hijas y hoy sigo aprendiendo cosas por ellas y gracias a ellas. Sin duda, me han convertido en una mejor persona y ellas aún no saben el increíble impacto que tienen en mí, y por eso me esfuerzo por ser presente para ellas.
