The Enigma of Self-Portraiture: My Role Behind (and In Front of) the Lens ESP/ENG

These photos were a test run for "Fe de Vida" (Proof of Life). They were the first shots we took, and Freisy, a friend and fellow photographer with whom I'm collaborating on the "Fe de Vida" project, helped me shoot these portraits.

Estas fotos las hicimos como prueba para "Fe de Vida". Fueron las primeras fotos que tomamos y la persona que me ayudó a disparar estos retratos fue Freisy, que es una amiga y colega fotógrafa con la que estamos involucrados haciendo las fotos de "Fe de Vida".

It's a bit challenging for me to pose in front of the camera at first, but I always get into the flow and can pose without a problem. The real challenge is always explaining what I'd like from the photographs because even though I'm not the one pressing the shutter, I'm still working as a photographer.

A mí me cuesta un poco posar frente a la cámara en un principio, pero siempre entro en flow y puedo posar sin problema. El asunto siempre es explicar lo que me gustaría de las fotografías porque, a pesar de que no soy la persona que está disparando, ejerzo igual como fotógrafo.

Self-portraiture is always a bit enigmatic. Many might think the photograph isn't "mine," but from my point of view, by arranging and moving the lights, I make my presence felt in the photograph, aside from appearing on the other side of the lens.

El autorretrato siempre es un poco enigmático; muchos pueden pensar que la fotografía no es mía, pero según mi punto de vista, como yo dispongo y muevo las luces, me hago presente en la fotografía, aparte de aparecer en el otro lugar del lente.

I believe it's always good to be active in the art of photography, even if you're not the one taking the pictures, you're still part of the photograph.

Creo que siempre es bueno ser activo en el arte de fotografiar; así no dispares, la fotografía se crea.
