The Complex Lens of Self-Perception ESP/ENG

Feeling beautiful is subjective, and many people have a distorted perception of their own appearance compared to what it truly is. Personally, there were certain aspects of my appearance that didn't give me much confidence, such as my height, as I was very short for a long time and then ended up growing to a height with which I feel comfortable (which is 1.73m). But when I was a teenager, this affected me because I was very short.

A mí en lo particular hay ciertos aspectos de mi apariencia que no me generaban mucha confianza, como por ejemplo mi estatura, ya que fui muy bajo por mucho tiempo y luego terminé creciendo a una estatura con la que me siento cómoda (que es 1,73m), pero cuando era adolescente esto me afectaba ya que era muy bajo.

In the specific case of those photographs, I remember that this girl had several complaints related to her appearance, and they were complaints I truly didn't understand. I feel this is something more common in women, as I've encountered this same situation several times: they can look "perfect," but they see themselves differently in the photograph.

En el caso específico de esas fotografías recuerdo que esta chica tuvo varias quejas relacionadas con su apariencia y son quejas que no entendí la verdad, y esto siento que es algo más común en mujeres ya que me he encontrado con esta misma situación varias veces: ya que para mí pueden lucir "perfectas" pero ellas se ven distinto en la fotografía.

This happened to me recently with some photos I took of someone because I thought she had a very beautiful appearance, but upon seeing the photographs, I was very surprised that she saw herself in a way that she even found unpleasant, something I didn't understand because everyone else I showed her photograph to said the same as I did (that she looked beautiful).

Así me sucedió con unas fotos que le hice a una persona hace poco porque me pareció que tenía una apariencia muy bella, pero al ver las fotografías me sorprendió mucho que se veía a sí misma de una forma que le pareció hasta desagradable, cosa que no entendí porque al que le mostré la fotografía de ella decía lo mismo que yo (que lucía hermosa).

Ultimately, this matter of self-perception is a super complex topic, and I believe women should look at themselves with a more positive view because, although this has also happened to me with men, I think in the case of women it's quite pronounced.

Al fin y al cabo, esto de la percepción de uno mismo es un tema súper complejo y creo que las mujeres deberían verse con una mirada más positiva de sí mismas porque a pesar de que esto también me ha pasado con hombres, creo que en el caso de las mujeres es algo bastante marcado.
