Echoes of Protest: A Look Back at My Country's History ESP/ENG

Hello Hivers! Today I want to show you these photos I took at some protests in my country quite a long time ago. These are photos I really liked at the time, and they hold an important memory for me, as it was a moment when the country was going through certain circumstances.

¡Hola, Hivers! Hoy les quiero mostrar son estas fotos que tomé en unas protestas de mi país hace bastante tiempo, pero son fotos que me gustaron mucho en su momento y que guardan una memoria para mí importante, ya que fue un momento en el que el país transitaba por unas circunstancias.

At that moment, I remember feeling that I was living a unique moment in history and that it would provoke important changes for the situation of my country. But the result of those demonstrations amounted to little, to be honest, or at least that's the feeling I have.

En ese momento recuerdo que sentía que vivía un momento único en la historia y que eso provocaría cambios importantes para la situación de mi país, pero el resultado de esas manifestaciones quedó en poco, a decir verdad, o por lo menos esa es la sensación que tengo.

I remember one day, determined to go out and protest, I was about to leave the house very upset to demonstrate, but my mom stopped me at the door of the house and didn't allow me to go because she said it wasn't worth risking it, which to me was absurd since "the country needed it."

Recuerdo que un día, decidido a salir a protestar, iba a salir de la casa muy molesto a manifestar, pero mi mamá me frenó en la puerta de la casa y no me lo permitió porque decía que no valía la pena arriesgarse a salir, cosa que para mí era absurda ya que "el país lo necesitaba".

I believe my mom taught me a great lesson that day. Many people died throughout those demonstrations, and a large part of it ended up being not as transcendent as I believed. It's not worth being a martyr at the wrong moment in history. Certainly, one should participate in these demonstrations, but it's also important to understand that countries operate on much slower timelines than people's lives, and it's not worth risking your life in vain.

Creo que mi mamá me dio una gran lección ese día. Muchas personas murieron a lo largo de esas manifestaciones y gran parte de eso terminó en nada tan trascendente como yo creía, y no vale la pena ser mártir en el momento equivocado de la historia. Ciertamente uno debe ser partícipe de estas manifestaciones, pero también es importante comprender que los países se manejan en tiempos bastante más lentos que las vidas de las personas y no vale la pena arriesgar tu vida en vano.
