Chains: Between Restraint and Identity ESP/ENG

Chains as a symbol are interesting; they are composed of links that are identical. On their own, the links aren't much, but together and in a specific order, the behavior of the material changes significantly. They are usually made of metal, which is related to the technological and artisanal capacity of the time. They represent the deprivation of liberty, security, law, feudalism, etc.

Las cadenas como símbolo son interesantes; están compuestas por eslabones que son iguales. Por sí solos, los eslabones no son gran cosa, pero en conjunto y con un orden específico, cambia bastante el comportamiento del material. Regularmente son de metal, cosa que tiene que ver con la capacidad tecnológica y artesanal para ello; representan la privación de la libertad, de seguridad, ley, feudo, etc.

Many interpretations can be drawn from this outfit, and the beauty of symbols is that they do not represent one concrete thing like signs do; instead, one can give them a different meaning depending on what each person is going through internally.

Se pueden sacar muchas lecturas de este atuendo, y lo bueno de los símbolos es que no representan una cosa concreta como lo serían los signos, sino que uno puede darle un significado diferente según lo que cada quien esté transitando internamente.

For me, these are chains that, through the model's performance, are about reclaiming those chains with pleasure, whatever they may represent. Or they could very well be the chains we decide to wear voluntarily because they are part of what defines us, like our own faces, for example. But it is just a vague idea. What do you think?

Para mí, son unas cadenas que, por el performance de la modelo, tratan sobre apropiarse de esas cadenas con gusto, sean lo que sean que representen. O bien podrían ser las cadenas que decidimos llevar de forma voluntaria porque son parte de lo que nos compone, como nuestra cara, por ejemplo; pero es solo una idea vaga. ¿Qué piensan ustedes?
