Posters and Songs
Hello photography lovers! Last Saturday we were invited to the opening of an exhibition of posters, whose author is a good friend designer. Ivan Batista Cadalzo proposes for this expo 10 posters inspired by 10 songs from CD "Mas" of 2016, by Cuban troubadour and singer-songwriter Frank Delgado.
They are works, in my opinion, very well achieved that enclose a great power of conceptual and visual synthesis, and very representative of the varied themes of the album. With different graphic styles he manages to communicate Frank's intention in his songs in a very fresh and creative way. The poster is a mix between art and design as it is a very personal interpretation focused on a theme or assignment, so to speak. In Cuba there is a tradition of poster design, especially for cinema. The ICAIC (Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry) has attested to this for more than half a century. The inauguration took place in a beautiful old house that has become a venue for art of all kinds, located in the municipality of Guanabacoa, in Havana. Laboratorio de Arte "Corral Falso 259" is the name of the gallery.
In the second part of the opening of the expo, the singer-songwriter Frank gave a concert where he performed all the songs of the album in question and gave us some more, along with his endless anecdotes of several songs. A wonderful evening! I must say that the house has a spectacular courtyard where abundant nature coexists harmoniously with artistic pieces of several well-known authors, but this part is for another publication. ¡Hola amantes de la fotografía! El pasado sábado fuimos invitados a la inauguración de una muestra de carteles, cuyo autor es un buen amigo diseñador. Iván Batista Cadalzo propone para esta expo 10 carteles inspirados en 10 canciones de CD "Mas" de 2016, del trovador y cantautor cubano Frank Delgado. Son obras, a mi juicio, muy bien logradas que encierran un gran poder de síntesis conceptual y visual, y muy representativas de los variados temas del disco. Con distintos estilos gráficos logra comunicar de manera muy fresca y creativa la intención de Frank en sus canciones. El cartel es una mezcla entre arte y diseño ya que es una interpretación muy personal enfocada en un tema o encargo, por así decirlo. En Cuba existe una tradición de diseño de carteles, sobre todo para el cine. El ICAIC (Instituto Cubano de Arte e Industria Cinematográficos) así lo atestigua desde hace ya más de medio siglo. La inauguración tuvo lugar en una bella casa antigua, devenida en recinto de arte de todo tipo ubicada en el municipio Guanabacoa, en La Habana. Laboratorio de Arte "Corral Falso 259" es el nombre de galería. En la segunda parte de la inauguración de la expo, el cantautor Frank ofreció un concierto donde interpretó todos los temas del disco en cuestión y nos regaló otros más, junto a sus interminables anécdotas de varias canciones. ¡Un lujazo de tarde-noche! Debo decir que la casa tiene un espectacular patio donde conviven armónicamente una abundante naturaleza con piezas artísticas de varios autores conocidos, pero esta parte queda para otra publicación.
