Details of a magnificent iron sculpture representing Don Quixote de la Mancha located in the tourist pole Varadero. Sergio Calixto Martínez Sopeña, Cuban sculptor and author of this work, is also the creator of other Quixotes on the island. The best known of all is located on the corner of 23rd and J, in the capital's Vedado district. A naked Quixote on his unmistakable Rosinante. In this sculpture, the one in Varadero, I was very struck by the number of padlocks it has, I do not know if they are part of the original sculpture or if it is pure human intervention.

This Quixote rides a little differently, he is not wearing his usual hat, which seems to have been knocked down by bad weather or a hurricane, nor is he riding with his usual companion Sancho, but only his donkey. I think that the sculpture is located in front of the tower of the old aqueduct of Varadero with all intention, besides being the highest area of the peninsula, perhaps he thought it was a giant that he had to face with all his strength. Hola queridos amigos del blanco y negro y de los detalles. En esta ocasión nos visitan peculiares imágenes de un aventurero caballero y soñador. Detalles de una magnífica escultura en hierro representando a Don Quijote de la Mancha ubicada en el polo turístico Varadero. Sergio Calixto Martínez Sopeña, escultor cubano autor de esta obra, también es creador de otros Quijotes en la isla. El más conocido de todos se encuentra en la esquina de 23 y J, en el Vedado capitalino. Un Quijote desnudo sobre su inconfundible Rosinante. En esta escultura, la de Varadero, me llamó mucho la atención la cantidad de candados que tiene, no se si forman parte de la escultura original o si es pura intervención humana. Este Quijote cabalga un tanto distinto, no va con su acostumbrado sombrero, derribado parece por un mal tiempo o huracán y tampoco va con su acompañante habitual Sancho, si no solo su burro. Pienso que la escultura está ubicada frente a la torre del antiguo acueducto de Varadero con toda intención, además de ser la zona más alta de la península, quizás pensó que era un gigante al que debía enfrentar con toda su fuerza.
