Schlossberg in Freiburg

I already posted the first part of my visit to Freiburg. Here comes my second part.

We hiked up the Schloßberg with the Schlossberg tower as our destination. There are many of these viewing platforms and most of the time you hear about taxpayers' money being wasted.
But I think this one is really good. Firstly, because it's a nice short walk to get there, and then there's the tower, which was really worth climbing.
However, it's really not for hikers with a fear of heights.

To get there, we once again crossed Freiburg's city centre.

In the process, we also passed through the Schwabentor.
There is a legend as to why this gate got its name.
One, a salt merchant from Swabia came via the Salt Road, who had fallen in love with the city of Freiburg. This merchant wanted to buy the city with barrels full of money. However, his wife probably had something against it and, as a precaution, exchanged the contents of the barrels with sand.
A real Swabian has.
When the merchant entered the city through this gate and made his offer to the people of Freiburg, he was then laughed at after opening the barrels and this gate has been called "The Swabian Gate" ever since.
A nice story. But probably nothing more.

After the Schwabentor, we crossed a bridge to the palace garden.

Even on the way up, the view was beautiful.

And then the tower appeared.

Everything is actually stable up to the top platform. However, there were still the last metres to the top. This was probably built a little more unstable on purpose. When you climbed up these metres, it shook a lot. In fact, I grabbed my mobile phone with all my might.

We took a slightly different route for the descent, under the rails of the castle railway. Of course, you can also take the train down, but it's only about 200 metres. That's also possible on foot.

And so we arrived at the bottom of the park. A beautiful day of hiking.

In the evening there was a dance performance. You really have to like that. It wasn't ours, but I took a few pictures anyway.

Ich habe ja schon den ersten Teil meines Freiburg Besuches gepostet. Hier kommt jetzt mein zweiter Teil.

Wir sind den Schloßberg Hochgewandert mit Ziel Schlossbergturm. Es gibt ja viele von diesen Aussichtsplattformen und meistens hört man davon, dass Steuergelder in den Sand gesetzt werden.
Diesen hier finde ich aber wirklich gut gelungen. Einmal, weil es ein schöner kurzer Wanderweg ist um dort hinzugelangen, und da wäre dann der Turm, der es echt mal wert war ihn hochzusteigen.
Der ist allerdings wirklich nichts für Wanderer mit Höhenangst.

Um dort hinzugelangen, durchquerten wir wieder einmal die Freiburger Innenstadt

Dabei kamen wir auch durch das Schwabentor.
Es gibt eine Legender, warum dieses Tor seinen Namen hat.
Eins, kam über die Salzstrasse ein Salzkaufmann aus Schwaben, der sich in die Stadt Freiburg verliebt hatte. Dieser Kaufmann wollte die Stadt mit Fässer voller Geld kaufen. Allerdings hatte wohl seine Frau etwas dagegen, und hat vorsorglich den Inhalt der Fässer mit Sand getauscht.
Eine echte Schwäbin hat.
Als der Kaufmann die Stadt durch dieses Tor betreten hatte, und den Freiburgern sein Angebot machte, wurde er dann nach dem öffnen der Fässer ausgelacht und man nennt dieses Tor seit dem "Das Schwabentor".
Eine schöne Geschichte. Mehr aber wohl nicht.

Nach dem Schwabentor gings dann für uns über eine Brücke zum Schlossgarten.

Schon auf dem Weg nach oben, war die Aussicht wunderschön.

Und dann kam das Ding.

Bis zur obersten Plattform ist eigentlich alles Stabil. Allerdings gab es dann noch die letzten Meter zur Spitze. Diese ist wohl mit Absicht etwas instabiler gebaut. Wenn man diese Meter noch hinaufgestiegen ist, hat es schon mächtig gewackelt. Tatsächlich habe ich mein Handy mit aller Macht festgekrallt.

Den Abstieg haben wir dann auf einem etwas anderen Weg genommen, unter den Schienen der Schlossbahn entlang. Man kann die natülich auch hinunterfahren, aber es sind ja auch nur ca. 200 Meter. Das geht auch zu Fuß.

Und so kamen wir dann auch unten am Park an. Ein schöner Wandertag.

Am Abend gab es dann noch eine Tanz Performance. Sowas muss man halt wirklich mögen. Unsers war es nicht, aber ein paar Bilder hab ich trotzdem gemacht.
