The Christmas season is coming with full force. Even though the weather doesn't really look like Christmas, the opening of the Christkindlmarkt in Augsburg is today at 6 pm.
I was out and about there this morning and took a few photos before the opening.

The figure that is still hidden in the first picture is a copy of Augsburg's "Stone Man". In the Middle Ages, this was a baker who saved the people of Augsburg from a long siege.

Otherwise, it is still quite quiet here.

This will probably be the most visited stand. Mulled wine and the like will again be served and sold here in large quantities.

I myself will probably not be at the start. But who knows. Things often turn out differently than you think.

Die Weihnachtszeit kommt mit voller Wucht. Auch wenn das Wetter nicht wirklich nach Weihnachten aussieht, ist heute am 18 Uhr in Augsburg die Eröffnung des Christkindlmarktes.
Ich war heute vormittag dort unterwegs, und habe noch ein paar Fotos vor der Eröffnung gemacht.

Die Figur, die auf dem ersten Bild noch verdeckt ist, ist eine Kopie des Augsburger "Steinernen Mannes". Das war im Mittelalter ein Bäcker der die Augsburger vor einer langen Belagerung rettete.

Ansonsten ist es noch recht ruhig hier.

Das hier wird wohl der meistbesuchte Stand werden. Glühwein und Co werden hier wieder in größeren Mengen ausgeschenkt und verkauft.

Ich selber werde wohl nicht am Start sein. Aber wer weiß. Oft kommt es anders als man denkt.
