Hey everyone!

Today I want to share a few photos of my cats and also tell you a little story of how they became part of the family.

These two are Kiba and Wera. Kiba is the mother of Wera, and we adopted Kiba when she was pregnant with four kittens. This was back in 2020, when we had just moved to Guadalajara, Jalisco (we don’t live there anymore). We had a roommate who was obsessed with cats, and a friend of hers told her that they had found Kiba roaming around the neighborhood. The problem was they didn’t tell her Kiba was expecting kittens—maybe they didn’t know. To be honest, I think they wanted us to fall in love with the cat first so we wouldn’t reject her, even if she came with more surprises.

So, we met Kiba, and indeed we fell in love with her. We took her to get an ultrasound, and sure enough, she was pregnant. Not only that, but she was also just a couple of weeks away from giving birth! So we took her home, cared for her, and somewhere near Valentine’s Day, the kittens were born. For those old-school folks here, you might remember that was around the time Justin Sun bought Steemit Inc., starting all the drama that made this chain what it is today—but that’s another story.

Eventually, we moved out of Guadalajara and returned home. From the five-cat family, we brought Kiba and Wera back with us. They’re both sterilized now, but that doesn’t stop some neighborhood cats from coming over to play or just say meow.

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, Kiba and Wera were my first cats. I’ve always been more of a dog person, but having cats is much easier—they’re more independent. We used to have a pet dog, but as some of you may already know, he got lost a few months ago.

Well, that’s the story of Kiba and Wera, our beloved cats. I hope you enjoyed it and liked the pictures too!

Saludos amigo Eddie. Recuerdo haber tenido un gatito muy parecido al que esta de lado izquierdo de la primera foto, era muy cariñoso y consentido.

Sí, por lo general son cariñosos, Kiba se deja apapachar y acariciar, Wera un poco menos.

Dear @eddiespino!

I really enjoyed Kiba an Wera's photos and your text. You're a great story teller.

I just want to add something about the story behind their names that you have probably already shared before.

Kiba (牙) means dogtooth in Japanese and she received that name because she has a defect in one of them. In Mexico we name a blond girl "Güera" or “Güerita" (Blondie). Wera is just a variation for it and Wera carries that name because of her lighter fur color.

Keep writing, I always love reading your posts.
