Welcome to the Grandma's Garden

Hello everyone!

Let's enter a flowery garden, brimming with color and full of life. We can sometimes experience that feeling when we open the door and go out into a natural space that someone has created with plants and flowers, turning it into a little paradise where we can take a deep breath and where our eyes experience the pleasure of observing the pure natural beauty.

Well, my grandmother has one of those gardens in her own house, and it is now in spring when everything is more beautiful, everything grows and flourishes in a joyous vegetal ecstasy. So I welcome you to a little green corner, to the grandma's garden.

The Grandma's Garden

And what are we going to find?
To start, as soon as we get closer, we can already glimpse a multitude of pots that have grown over time to create a beautiful collection, especially geraniums (geranium gardens are something very Spanish...), a lovely collection of geraniums of all colors: roses, fuchsias, coral, white, bicolor and of course red. Vibrant colors, wonderful in contrast to the green of the leaves, the blue of the sky and many colors of the views outside. They contrast with our own gaze that marvels.

Although some are yet to hatch and for now their green leaves await their triumphant moment to show off their flowers.

And all those geraniums also compete with other flowers, like a floral competition of nature, with some classical pink carnations and a very elegant red rose that becomes the queen of the place, but also with other humbler and lesser-known ones such as the purple cute cuphea (I have had to look at its name in the PlantNet app).

Not only flowers, but also impressive, large plants and plants that are older than myself, such as the super green pilistra (I have also searched for its exact name), other long spider or ribbon plant, or many ferns that give freshness, humidity and greener to the whole natural space. And to add variety, always some nice succulents will give more originality to the whole set. As if it were a sample of all the plants that we could have in the same garden.

What else? Also fruits.
If we want more, we cannot forget the ones that bear fruit, a motivated tomato plant that has already produced some tomatoes and that shares space, soil, air and water when watered with all the other flower pots.

But I wanted to add other photos of the summer because the star is a tree, yes, a small (still) tree, it's a fig tree, one of those that has huge soft leaves and bulbs appear on its branches that end up becoming delicious and sweet figs. And here we can see how many of them came out, all incredibly very tasty!

A garden of Eden where we can eat its fruits, the paradise of flowers and figs. And this space is changing and it looks different throughout the year, so every time we look out we perceive how the leaves fall (which must be removed and swept) how we must take care of it in winter although everything is greener and more uniform but also beautiful, and how in spring and summer we have to water everything much more and thus they give us more flowers and colors, a natural joy that is contagious only by looking around us.

A humble, simple and beautiful garden, with no other pretensions than to be able to have closer to the precise nature, to be able to feel it and take care of it, and my grandma does a fantastic job, so I hope you liked the visit to her lively, green, colorful and flowery garden.

Thanks for reading! Have a charming and flowery day.

Geraniums! I simply adore them. Back in a day they were mainly just red. Proper bright red that when you saw those reds on someone’s windowsills, you knew straight away that they were Geraniums.

These days breeders go over themselves creating some magnificent colour and shape combinations and I do love them all. Such easy, yet gratifying plants to grow. Although I never managed to keep them alive through winter. I mean I did once, when the winter was very light, but they didn’t bounce back to their glory.

Your nan has a beautiful garden. Hope you’re visiting her often to enjoy and learn more about growing plants 💙

Yeah a lot of geraniums here around, and there are those kind of mixed, with two colors too, so all very colorful and lovely but it's true those flowers are not easy, they are somehow delicate and specially difficult to take care of them in winter time. But my grandma loves those geraniums and she always had those pots, and she still have them 😉❤️
Now I go less as I'm busier and before I lived very close so during summertime I was in charge to water the plants when she went to the village so in part I kept some of them alive and I ate some figs too 😂
Thank you dear 💚🤗 !LUV

Looks like she has some nice, hiding place for them, plus I assume in Spain the weather is not as cold as here. I dream of having a nice greenhouse where I can overwinter my favourite plants one day.

So nice that you helped your nan with them. A little proud moment that you have your part on keeping them alive 😍

Have a wonderful weekend sis 😘💙

😊 The weather here is good sometimes too good, sometimes too hot but probably it's easier to take care of plants but I watered them many times in the past so I helped a bit so I'm happy they look so nice year after year. I think there you need to put like an greenhouse exactly, to preserve better the plants, maybe you will share your photos in the future who knows... 😉 Happy weekend my friend!

Who knows? Maybe one day!

Yeah, we often complain about the rain, but at least we don’t have to water the plants when it rains.

The problem is that it rains and rains and my water butt is full and then it doesn’t rain for weeks in summer and my saved water is gone in no time 🤷🏻‍♀️ Can’t win this 😂

Jaja never the exact amount of rain!!
Here we can't trust on rain to water the plants, never enough and maybe a couple of weeks it rains too much and it's a disaster, this year almost nothing and that's no good because it's necessary so I think that we will start soon praying or some rain dancing!😂😂

What a beautiful garden your grandmother has. I see it's like a patio, it sure is great to sit there among so many plants and enjoy the sun when it's not too hot. It reminds me of what the garden was like at one of my aunts' house when I was a child.
I love geraniums and would eat several of those figs right now.
Happy weekend!

Thanks 🤗 yes like a patio with fresh air, it has been always like that at least I just remember that garden... and still it looks really alive and green and always full of geraniums.
In summer it's hot (with some fabric as awning/big sun umbrella) but during the rest of the year is a pleasant place where to be. Hope there will be more figs, she told me they are growing and now she's experimenting with an orange tree!
Happy Weekend!!

An orange tree sounds amazing, and I hope it does well. I've had a small potted lemon tree for years, but it has never given me a single lemon, hehe. These days, I offered my brother-in-law to take it to plant it in his garden to see if it will give me some lemons, let's see if he wants to take it.

Sometimes it's not easy... ok you put the seeds some water and later no lemons nothing jaja the mystery of the nature 😉 Hope finally you will have some lemons! !LUV
