Bologna & Verona: Italian cities and architecture spots

Hello archi lovers!

Another dream trip, in Italian lands, enjoying the architecture of beautiful cities, their intense history and a unique beauty that we always love. But sometimes time is pressing, and we visit places quickly, but we can still observe iconic places and spectacular architectural designs from other times while enjoying the charming urban atmosphere of some of these locations.

This time, two important and relevant cities in Italy, on the one hand Bologna, a city full of history and delicious cuisine, and also interesting places that are sometimes overshadowed by others in other locations. And on the other Verona, a literary setting par excellence and a historic, elegant and beautiful architectural setting.

Bologna

An impressive design is found as soon as we arrive at the historic centre, a large statue of the god Neptune in all its splendor, and in this urban space it becomes the heart that attracts all eyes. Meanwhile, around us we see a large palace next to a network of medieval and Renaissance facades that give the atmosphere a different air, taking us back to the past.

In addition to the statue and the palace, we find a beautiful gallery, a very old church without much decoration but steeped in the history of which it has been a witness, and on other facades we do find more decoration, with niches with statues, flags, Latin mottos from other eras, and much more.

And one of the most important elements of the city are its towers. There are two, one that we see in front, tall and imposing, and to its left later as we get closer we will find another one, which is crooked, it is not as famous as the famous Tower of Pisa, but its wrong shape is also very curious, but you have to go there...

Verona

And we take a leap in time and space to reach a city famous for an immortal literary work, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. But in Verona there is much more to see... its views for example, the problem sometimes is the weather, if there is fog because of the cold, the views of this beautiful city become cloudy, even so we perceive its urban layout dominated by a river with its bridges, it could seem like Florence, right? although here there is more orography, more mountains on which the city has been growing and developing, creating a mixture of buildings from different periods, from the oldest to some more modern, but everything retains a charming air.

But we must not forget the most visited place, Juliet's house, which exists, and when entering the courtyard, we find thousands of notes that visitors write, many are declarations or wishes of love, emulating that tragic story but hoping for a happier ending. And everyone is happy when entering and finding the supposed balcony that was the scene of that story, although it is a fictional story, remember, but everything was recreated, or perhaps that is where the inspiration came from, a legend that remains, in such a relevant and special architectural element. The balcony.

And it is true that we missed many things, we saw many, but we photographed fewer, such as the Verona Arena, a Roman amphitheater that continues to be the stage for fantastic shows and events. The Roman world is certainly still very present in the small details that we see as we walk around the city.
