An Unplanned Fast Visit to Milwaukee

Has it not happened to you that during a trip looking at the map it occurred to you to stop in some other place that you did not have planned?

Take advantage of the fact that sometimes the road signs seem to guide us to another unknown place where we did not think to stop, but why not?

So sometimes we visit other places in a quick, intense and specific way, just a walk, some photos, while we are looking for information about what to see there, and where to eat something. In the end, these types of mini-trips end up being fun, curious and obviously spontaneous, why not a bit of spontaneity outside of so many scheduled trips? Let's see what we find.

That happened back to Chicago (I'm done with the posts about Chicago, but there are more places nearby) and the signs indicated with names and arrows the way to other cities, why don't we stop by Milwaukee?

So suddenly, looking at the clock and seeing that, well, we still had a few hours and we could always arrive later at night, you don't always have to follow the plans, do you?

Changing course along the highway, now we looked more closely at everything around us. In the distance, there seemed to be an amusement park, then typical highway billboards, and finally buildings that indicated that downtown Milwaukee was there.

The important thing is to quickly find information about the city and what to see. It caught our attention that there was a museum unlike any other, the Harley-Davidson Museum and although it was already a bit late to be able to enter, there were people outside, some with their own motorcycles of the mythical brand, would they be part of the museum?

At that time yet it would be difficult to enter to see places of interest, but we could walk with the evening light that reflected in a multitude of glass buildings and of course a mall or center. At the same time, these modern buildings, although already from another era, contrasted with the classical catholic church here in the US. Everything formed a curious ensemble on an apparently calm afternoon, because there was hardly any movement or noise. It looked like the center of a quiet or sleepy Midwest town.

The sun goes down, sunset time is coming... we run out of ideas and we feel like stopping for a moment.

So we had to find a place to eat something, and we saw a brewery where they made their own beer, we would have to try it. And to accompany the drink, some food, and the “Milwaukee hamburger” appeared on the menu. Was it something special or just the name they had given it? We didn't know but we tried it. Not bad, hamburgers in the United States taste special... or maybe just we feel that sometimes.

And after the stop we realize that it is night, the lights come on and it is more difficult for us to be able to tour or walk around the city and see more things. It hasn't given us much time, it was an attempt out of curiosity, to get to know that other city and always be able to see more, travel more. In any case, it hasn't been bad, even at night we were able to get on a boat on the river under the light of the buildings and streetlights, although the photos didn't turn out very well at that time.

But the memory remains as the desire to be able to return one day to see everything that we have missed, to visit that museum and to enjoy something more of this pleasant city. Perhaps it has been an appetizer of another possible trip, the first part of yet another or a preview of another great and maybe less unplanned and fast visit to Milwaukee.
