Potro Montenegro, Tivat - a walk along the luxurious marina

I had to fulfill one promise!
Although I had the opportunity to walk in some much more authentic localities, on nature trails or on hidden Montenegrin beaches, part of the team wanted to see the famous Porto Montenegro, a luxurious part of the bokokotorska, city of Tivat, which was built on the site of a former military base and overhaul institute.

I haven't been to Tivat for years, the last time was on a rainy autumn evening and then I had nothing to see.
I thought it would be different on a sunny day.
And it was 🙂

The blue of the sky, with white clouds, stone walls and pavements of this modern and expensive neighborhood, provide a beautiful scenery for photography.

Expensive yachts, famous hotels, shops of some world brands are at every step.

All in all, stone, concrete, wealth.
But I'm not overly interested in all that.

(it was so interesting that I checked the time on "my" Rolex 🙂)

OK, it was nice to sit down in a nearby cafe and take a coffee break, but overall, nothing about this place impressed me. New, modern, expensive - soulless.

There are many more beautiful and interesting locations to visit on this part of the Montenegrin coast.

At the gate of Porto Montenegro, we came out on the big city pier Pine, which I remember from before.

A nice square, next to the sea, with a row of palm trees, flowers and a nice cafe garden.

And the most interesting "detail" on this pier was the sailing ship "Jadran".

I was especially interested in story and the complications it brings to the Montenegrin state today.

It was built in the period 1930-1931, when it was launched, but only in 1933 it sailed into its home port in Tivat.
A sailing ship with three masts, the tallest of which is 49 meters, dominates this 60-meter-long ship.

The school sailing ship of the barkanti type, which has been used for the training of young sailors for almost a century, had some interesting journeys in its history. Across the ocean, he reached the shores of North America.
In World War II, he was captured by the Italian navy and at the end of the war he was sunk off the coast of Venice.
After the war, it was delivered and overhauled in the aforementioned institution (where Porto Montenegro was built today and is still used for training.
However, there is a dispute that has been going on for decades.
Namely, while the Croats claim that the Adriatic is their property, because the port in Split was its home at the time of the beginning of the civil war in 1991, the Montenegrins hold to the fact that the first home port of the "Jadran" was Tivat and that all the overhauls of the sailing ship were carried out in Tivat, because it is owned by Montenegro after all.

Until that diplomatic knot is cut, the sailing ship "Jadrean" is used by the Montenegrin Navy for training sailors and the ship adorns the pier in Tivat, especially when the sky is blue, like today, when I share with you photos of my tour of Tivat in #wednesdaywalk

Touring Tivat and Porto Montenegro was just one of the stops on my short vacation on the Montenegrin coast.
Thank you for stopping by my post and I hope you enjoyed the photos and the story I shared with you

It looks nice, modern and neat, but for the sea coast, too little nature for my taste 🙂
