The view from the tower on a Wednesday - Wednesday walk

(Edited)

In search of adrenaline, I found myself at the tower of Aqva Park, from which, in addition to the slides on which I will satisfy my adventurous spirit, there was a view of the city panorama.

And from the panorama of the city, the towers of a cathedral stood out.

That cathedral had to be seen up close. I took the elevator to the top of the aqua park tower, and I was almost certain that I would have to climb the cathedral tower on foot.

The beautiful exterior of the orange-brick cathedral, incredible in size for a small city like Szeged, with towers similar to the one on St. Mark's Square in Venice, simply tempts you to take a look at the panorama of the city from the top of one of them.

Before going to the top of the tower, we visit the beautiful interior of the cathedral.

After the prayer, I buy a ticket and start climbing the 300 steps to the point designated for tourists (I was right, there is no elevator here, unlike the Aqua Park tower).

At one stop, after 150 steps, there is an interesting exhibit, a large clock mechanism on the tower (unfortunately out of order today, because the hands on the clocks on the towers are controlled by newer mechanisms, but still a nice example of mechanics from 100 years ago).

Just before the exit to the top, in the room with the spiral stairs, there is a bell tower. I was lucky, as I passed this part of the tower, the bells did not ring.

After 300 steps, I come out on the terrace of the tower. The view of the city panorama from the cathedral tower is stunning.

The beautiful roofs of Szeged's buildings, other cathedrals, the synagogue, the Dom plateau, the river...

After taking photos and enjoying the view, I go down the same stairs I used to reach the top of the tower.

I missed the exit on the ground floor and went down one level, and found myself in the crypt of the cathedral. An additional opportunity to hear some interesting stories and see interesting things from the life of the cathedral.

After leaving the crypt, I walk around the cathedral and come across several memorials.

One of the sculptures, erected in commemoration of the great suffering of Ukrainians in 1932-1933, known as the Holodomor, left a strong impression on me and when I learned everything about the 500 days that the hunger torture of the Ukrainian people lasted, I also felt strong emotional pain.. .

I leave under the impression of the sculptures from the plateau in front of the cathedral, determined to visit it even after dark.

It is beautiful, at night, maybe even more so than during the day...

Thank you for stopping by my post and I hope you enjoyed the photos and the story and walk I shared with you for this #WednesdayWalk
