The Family of Cats Living With Us

If I had to choose between a cat and a dog, I would probably choose a German Shepherd. But this time, since we already have many pets, I decided to write about cats — actually, several cats.
This weekend our feline family got three new members. Foxy gave birth, and the three tiny kittens instantly became the children’s favorites.

A few weeks earlier Mimica also brought three little kittens into the world, and now they have already opened their eyes.
Foxy and Mimica take turns taking care of all the kittens together. When one of them goes hunting, the other stays with the babies so they can nurse peacefully. All the brothers and sisters enjoy their warm little family nest together.

The children are overjoyed. They brush them, feed them, pet them, and spend every free moment around them. Our dog Milica happily runs around them, trying to sniff and lick the kittens.

Cats are somehow gentler and they easily win children’s hearts, while dogs are more goofy, loyal, and dependent on humans. My whole life I have been surrounded by animals. So far I have had five German Shepherds, dozens of cats, several budgies, a hamster, a hedgehog, a large forest turtle, a lemming, and a rabbit. I will not even count the domestic animals — pigs, chickens, geese, ducks, and turkeys — that we raised for years for meat and eggs.
In all this chaos of animals, this large extended cat family has now taken center stage. It will be interesting to watch the kittens when they grow a little and begin exploring the world around them. Of course, I am also waiting to see the reactions of Milica and Beina, our dogs, who I hope will protect them and play with them.
Until then, we still have time to figure out where to place them permanently, because right now they are staying in a basket that we carry with us around the whole house.

Thank you for reading this blog, and I hope you enjoyed it. Whoever nurtures love toward animals also nurtures love toward people. Animals will always return that love with loyalty and devotion, whether through a bark or a meow reminding you to care for them, or simply by purring happily in your lap while you pet them.
Faithful friends forever.
Good morning, friend.
I thought the question said outside cats and dogs?
Since I often write late at night after putting the children to sleep, sometimes my head simply drops from exhaustion and I fall asleep before remembering to include the original version in my native language. 🙂
This story is autobiography.
@jayna and @uwak, thank you for pointing out my forgetfulness. In the future, I’ll try not to put myself in situations like this again. People, thank you for this kind of support!
