So, we have already established that on Zalor Beach, which is located between Carmona Beach (then comes Cavelossim) and Fatrade Beach (then comes Varca Beach) there are 4 options for beach loungers from the cafe. Our tour operators, without thinking twice, call all this Varca Beach, it is easier for them to navigate (although Fatrade was clearly written in the address of our hotel). Approximately the same nonsense happened in our beloved Agonda. People were offered a vacation in Palolem (an iconic vacation spot in a lagoon without waves), but in fact their bungalows were located in Agonda, and to Palolem there is still a long way to go ... by taxi at your own expense. A tourist should be curious, and studying maps of the area before the trip is sacred! Otherwise, you will find yourself in a remote village 15 kilometers from the desired object. But you are not like that and clearly understand where and why you are going. Right?
The main feature of Varca Beach and the adjacent beaches is white sand. At the entrance to the Arabian Sea, the sand is yellow-red, like everywhere on the beaches in Goa, but it is worth moving away from the sea for 15 meters, plus or minus, because the width of the beach is different everywhere, as the sand becomes white and crunchy under your feet. White, crunchy, sticky, like starch, sand! Sand, plopping into which in a wet state, then for a long time you clean it off, it is too fine, really like starch. I have already told you about the 4 cafes on the Zalor Beach, it is time to give out secret addresses and passwords. You can get sun loungers under awnings not only in cafes, there are other options here. But you have to understand that there are more offers in the “high” season, at the very beginning of the season in October (it is considered that the beach season starts from the end of October), when rains are still likely, there are fewer offers. And at the end of the season, in mid-April, beach activity begins to wind down and cafes lazily close.
Literally on the very first day of vacation in April, we found free-standing sun loungers with awnings. Somewhere around 10 awnings and 20 sun loungers. We like the theme of sun loungers, it is convenient, but no one stops you from lying down on a towel right in the sand, it is free. The sun loungers are standard for Goa - wooden trestle beds with an adjustable pillow under your head. Yes, it is scary ... These are not the usual plastic loungers, but such are the realities of Indian life. Such sun loungers made of wooden boards are repairable and will last a long time. Plastic is fragile and short-lived, the sun lounger breaks under the influence of the hot sun and the weight of a fat body. Our first encounter with wooden sun loungers was in Sri Lanka, we were very surprised then, but there were mostly plastic sun loungers on the beach and a few wooden varnished sun loungers by the pool. Those sun loungers made of good wood looked exquisite and exotic. And so the encounter with wooden sun loungers on the beaches of Goa was not a tragedy. Where else can you see such a miracle? We come here for such exoticism! Asia is another world! Who said “unsanitary”? Have you looked at what’s going on near the garbage dump in your yard lately? And are there no rats, crows, or seagulls there? Lucky you…
Back to the beach theme. There is a caretaker’s booth behind the sun loungers. You can calmly choose a sun lounger and relax, and then (or immediately, as you wish) buy some drinks from the old man (soft drinks, water, beer, etc.). We bought cola. One way or another, you need to drink a lot of liquid here, especially immediately after arrival during the period of harsh acclimatization, when everything around is stuffy and humid. Then, in about three days, you will get used to it and settle in. But you still need to drink water. Water from sealed factory bottles, of course, otherwise your vacation can turn into hell with intestinal disorders, we are not locals who have lived here since childhood, we do not have such immunity to infection.

Wir haben bereits festgestellt, dass es am Zalor Beach, der zwischen Carmona Beach (darunter Cavelossim) und Fatrade Beach (darunter Varca Beach) liegt, vier Möglichkeiten für Strandliegen und Cafés gibt. Unsere Reiseveranstalter nennen all das ohne zu zögern Varca Beach, da es für sie einfacher ist, sich zurechtzufinden (obwohl Fatrade eindeutig in der Adresse unseres Hotels stand). Ähnliches passierte uns in unserem geliebten Agonda. Den Gästen wurde ein Urlaub in Palolem (einem ikonischen Urlaubsort an einer Lagune ohne Wellen) angeboten, aber tatsächlich befanden sich ihre Bungalows in Agonda, und nach Palolem ist es noch ein weiter Weg … mit dem Taxi auf eigene Kosten. Ein Tourist sollte neugierig sein und sich vor der Reise unbedingt Karten der Gegend ansehen! Sonst landet man in einem abgelegenen Dorf, 15 Kilometer vom gewünschten Ziel entfernt. Aber so ist es nicht, und Sie wissen genau, wohin und warum Sie fahren. Oder?
Das Hauptmerkmal von Varca Beach und den angrenzenden Stränden ist weißer Sand. Am Eingang zum Arabischen Meer ist der Sand gelb-rot, wie überall an den Stränden von Goa. Es lohnt sich jedoch, sich etwa 15 Meter vom Meer zu entfernen, da die Breite des Strandes überall unterschiedlich ist und der Sand unter den Füßen weiß und knusprig wird. Weiß, knusprig, klebrig, wie Stärke – Sand! Sand, in den man nass hineinfällt und den man dann lange wäscht, ist zu fein, wirklich wie Stärke. Ich habe euch bereits von den vier Cafés am Zalor Beach erzählt, es ist Zeit, geheime Adressen und Passwörter preiszugeben. Sonnenliegen unter Markisen gibt es nicht nur in Cafés, es gibt auch andere Möglichkeiten. Man muss jedoch verstehen, dass es in der Hochsaison, also zu Beginn der Saison im Oktober (die Strandsaison beginnt Ende Oktober), wenn noch Regen zu erwarten ist, mehr Angebote gibt. Und am Ende der Saison, Mitte April, lässt das Strandleben langsam nach und die Cafés schließen langsam.
Buchstäblich am ersten Urlaubstag im April fanden wir freistehende Sonnenliegen mit Markisen. Etwa zehn Markisen und zwanzig Sonnenliegen. Wir mögen das Thema Sonnenliegen, es ist praktisch, und niemand hindert einen daran, sich mit einem Handtuch direkt in den Sand zu legen – es ist kostenlos. Die Sonnenliegen sind Standard für Goa – Holzbetten mit verstellbarem Kopfkissen. Ja, es ist beängstigend ... Das sind keine gewöhnlichen Plastikliegen, aber so ist die Realität des indischen Lebens. Solche Sonnenliegen aus Holzbrettern sind reparierbar und halten lange. Plastik ist zerbrechlich und kurzlebig; die Sonnenliege zerbricht unter der Einwirkung der heißen Sonne und des Gewichts eines dicken Körpers. Unsere erste Begegnung mit Holzliegen hatten wir in Sri Lanka. Wir waren damals sehr überrascht, denn am Strand gab es hauptsächlich Plastikliegen und am Pool ein paar lackierte Holzliegen. Diese Liegen aus gutem Holz wirkten exquisit und exotisch. Und so war die Begegnung mit Holzliegen an den Stränden von Goa auch kein Problem. Wo sonst kann man so ein Wunder erleben? Wir kommen hierher, um so viel Exotik zu erleben! Asien ist eine andere Welt! Wer sagt denn „unhygienisch“? Hast du dir in letzter Zeit mal angesehen, was in der Nähe der Müllhalde in deinem Garten los ist? Und gibt es dort keine Ratten, Krähen oder Möwen? Du Glückspilz…
Zurück zum Strandthema. Hinter den Liegen befindet sich ein Hausmeisterhäuschen. Man kann sich in Ruhe eine Liege aussuchen und entspannen und anschließend (oder gleich, je nach Wunsch) Getränke vom Hausmeister kaufen (Erfrischungsgetränke, Wasser, Bier usw.). Wir haben Cola gekauft. So oder so muss man hier viel trinken, besonders direkt nach der Ankunft während der harten Akklimatisierungsphase, wenn alles stickig und feucht ist. Nach etwa drei Tagen hat man sich dann eingewöhnt und eingelebt. Wasser muss man aber trotzdem trinken. Natürlich aus versiegelten Fabrikflaschen, sonst kann der Urlaub mit Darmbeschwerden zur Hölle werden. Wir sind keine Einheimischen, die seit ihrer Kindheit hier leben, und sind daher nicht so immun gegen Infektionen.
