Views from the side of the road & Actifit August 30 2025
Only a few minutes away from the town I live in, there's a village (I still see it as a village, even if they changed its status to a town) so there's a long road that goes through this "village," and in front of almost every house, next to the main road, people set up stalls with lots of veggies and fruits for sale, mainly pickled vegetables. They've been known throughout the entire country, even since communist times, for pickled cabbage and sauerkraut. Seeing all those plastic containers sitting all day long in the sun doesn't give me an appetite, no matter how good their pickles might be. In the past, they used only glass jars.

Plastic containers are more convenient, easier to use and don't break like the glass ones, also they can sell their stuff without charging anything extra because the plastic ones are very cheap...
That does make sense, times are changing my friend!😮

This is known to be bad for you and why I do not even leave a plastic bottle of water in the car.
These people are either older generation that's hard to educate about plastic, or people that don't care much as long as they have buyers.
Probably a bit of both and they do not care as long as they sell their products.

Plastic is everywhere nowadays, I hate it but it's also useful in so many cases.

Pickled watermelon is what we miss here in Bulgaria, but my father made little watermelons pickled as we were kids... taste similar like the green tomatos :)
It has been a while since I had some pickled watermelons, good reminder, I'll look to get some. Here you can find them in supermarkets but not the mini ones.
