My Actifit Report: A Day of Reading, Errands, and Unexpected Encounters
Yesterday was a great day! The morning started quite cold, but thankfully, the weather improved as the day went on. I spent most of my morning reading manga, only stepping out briefly to get cash from a POS in my neighborhood.
An Embarrassing Moment and a Refreshing Stop
In the afternoon, I ran an errand to Army Barracks Primary School. My journey there started with a bit of an embarrassing moment. I was jogging along, phone in hand, completely oblivious that my flashlight was on! It wasn't until I reached a hotel and a kind man pointed it out that I realized. Suddenly, it all made sense why those students from Odobara High School had been giving me strange looks.
I soon reached the fork in the road leading to both the school and the barracks. Despite its name, which suggests a connection to the military, Army Barracks Primary School is actually a regular school, not owned or run by soldiers. The soldiers from the nearby base only visit to help train students for their inter-house sports, particularly for the march past. In fact, last year, the commander's house even won!
I wasn't heading into the barracks itself, but I do love that particular area because of the abundance of trees. It's always so cool and the air feels incredibly fresh there. I even stopped at an "Iya Olonje" — a local spot for delicious food — to adjust my phone's camera settings. The glare on the screen had made it impossible to see the pictures I was taking.
Why the Trip to School? Fish!
You might be wondering what exactly I went to the school to get. Well, it was fish! My mum had arranged for someone to help her buy it from the market, and since she wasn't going to work yesterday due to some personal reasons, she sent me to pick it up.
Unexpected Encounters and a Quick Errand
Upon finally reaching the school, I noticed a damaged tanker parked nearby. I figured the army might have suggested placing it there. What was quite amusing was walking alongside some young soldiers who weren't in uniform. The moment one of their seniors passed by, they snapped to attention and saluted, revealing their identity. Meanwhile, I just kept walking, completely unfazed, haha! My mum always says she knows the commander, but I'm completely in the dark about what goes on inside the army barracks or even LASU, where they reside.
Inside the school, I quickly got what I came for. It's where my mum teaches. She had told me not to take pictures inside, but I couldn't resist snapping a few of that tanker. What's the worst that could happen, right?
The Walk Back and New Developments
After finishing my errand, I walked back the same way I came. By then, Odobara High School had closed, and knowing how those students can be – throwing stones at each other – I made sure to keep my phone safely tucked away. "Make dem no spoil my phone, I never get money buy new one!"
I also noticed that the Local Government Secretariat at Itamarun Junction had just finished construction of a new building. It was a great walk overall, so much so that when I got to the junction, I decided to take public transport to Odomola, just like I did on the way there. Tricycles are definitely cheaper than bikes in terms of what leaves my pocket , and I genuinely enjoy walking, as long as it's not in my own neighborhood!

I enjoyed the whole tour. I wouldn't have resisted the temptation not to take pictures either, even if mom told me not to.
Right?! Some things just need to be captured, even if Mom says no. 😉 Thanks for enjoying the read
