The Lekan Salami Stadium/Sports Complex

Football is a universal sport and it is loved and cherished by many all around the world.
Sports generally is an integral part of our everyday lives. It brings us together, helps us ease out stress and encourages social interaction even across different cultures.
A lot of resources go into making different sports enjoyable, as much as possible.
And that is exactly happened in the city of Ibadan with the Lekan Salami Sports Complex at Adamasingba in the central part of Ibadan city.
For quite some time the stadium had experienced neglect. A stadium which used to host international football matches had now become docile, unable to even host local teams within the state.
The stadium was in a really bad state. Subtle renovations had been done over the tears, but none to really bring it up back to international standards.
However, a few years back when a new government came in, under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, the stadium experienced some real renovation when significant repairs to the tune of over 11 million dollars was spent to renovate the facility and this not only included the main bowl where football matches were played. It also included repairs to the tennis court, basketball court, athletics tracks and the many other annexes in the sports complex.
Today international matches are played there conveniently.
In fact, yesterday an U-23 African Cup of nations Qualifiers match was played between Nigeria and Tanzania and the event was a great success.
I was recently there a few months back at an event and decided to take some shots of the main bowl before they were occupied.

For a thriving big city in Nigeria, I think these renovations should stand the test of time if well maintained.

@draysax The facilities are really very nice and the color is spectacular. I hope you enjoy it a lot and have many competitions, even though I'm not that young, I enjoy watching all the soccer games. For the photos with a score from 1 to 10, you have more than 10 very good shots. Congratulations.
