Krka National Park, the most beautiful viewpoints and trails

Hello friends. Today I’m going to write about Krka National Park in Croatia. I’ve often had the chance to stop by here while traveling to the coast, but I always kept saying, "I'll do it next year." In fact, I had visited back when I was in high school on class trips. Finally, I decided to see the breathtaking Krka waterfalls again.Krka National Park encompasses a significant part of the Krka River's course, from its source near Knin in the Dinaric Mountains to its mouth at the Adriatic Sea.After buying a ticket, I entered through one of the five well-known entrances. I could choose to tour the area by boat, bicycle, or on foot. My choice is always the same: I tour on foot so I can see everything properly.I headed towards the pedestrian walkway. The walkway is made of wood and set on pillars above the water and the ground.The path wound its way through the forest, flanked by trees and shrubs. At several points, the trail widens into railed platforms that serve as spots to pause and observe the surroundings. Here, the water forms cascades, spilling over tufa barriers. In this section, the river flows in multiple parallel channels, creating a labyrinth of watercourses.I arrived at Skradinski Buk. It is the most famous and spectacular waterfall in Krka National Park. This magnificent cascade consists of 17 waterfalls plunging into a wide, clear lagoon; we all come here to see what I like to call this beautiful natural phenomenon.

I headed downstream to Roški Slap, where there are numerous smaller waterfalls. From there, I made my way toward the complex of old mills.

In the mills there are exposed objects from the past: grain sacks, wooden tools and flour containers. The guide in the facility explained the working principle of the mill, where the power of the river current turns the outer wheel, and that work is transferred to the stone plates that grind the grains. Next to the mill there is also a stupa, a device used to wash and soften fabric using water pressure. The water enters through the stone openings, creates a vortex and thus hits the material inside the container.

From the plateau near Skradinski Buk, a path leads to the boat dock. Krka National Park boats operate between the waterfall and the town of Skradin. I boarded a boat, and within 20 minutes, I was already in the town of Skradin.First, I tried to find a restaurant because I was hungry. After a few unsuccessful attempts—since everything was full of tourists—I bought a sandwich and took a walk around the city.Skradin is a historic town featuring stone houses and stone-paved streets. Upon disembarking, we passed the harbor master's office and headed toward the town center. The streets of Skradin are narrow and lead to the central square, where a church with a bell tower is located.There are plenty of local shops with their products, restaurants. I mean a real tourist town. I liked what I saw and headed towards the parking lot where I left my car yesterday, I slept here and in the morning I headed towards the national park. My journey continued towards the Adriatic Sea
