A weekend in the Royal Apartments and a tour of Zlatibor
Hello everyone. We generally look forward to every weekend, as we have more time for family and a short getaway. I used to work as an assistant at the local Radio-TV station in my town. My former colleagues remembered me and invited me to spend the weekend at Zlatibor, where the "Radio Days of Serbia" event is taking place.I have been to Zlatibor many times, but now I had the opportunity to be in the Royal apartments.
We arrived on Saturday morning, and I was immediately impressed the moment I reached the gate. It is an exclusive neighborhood near the center, yet it differs significantly from the rest of Zlatibor. The "Royal Apartments" are built in a traditional style featuring wooden elements and are situated in a pine forest along the lakeshore.

After a quick check-in and settling into the spacious apartment, I immediately went out for a leisurely stroll. I stepped directly onto the well-maintained path that circles Zlatibor Lake. The air here is crisp and clean—a true health retreat.

I spent the day walking near the lake. There were anglers and good restaurants there, too. I stopped at one of them for homemade bread with kajmak and pršuta, as well as excellent roast lamb. I headed back in the late afternoon because we had lectures and a celebration marking Serbia's Radio Day.

On Sunday, we got up early, had coffee on the terrace, and decided to tour the area around Zlatibor today.
We got up early on Sunday, had coffee on the terrace, and decided to explore the area around Zlatibor that day. We traveled about 20 km to Stopića Cave. This cave is unique for its "tubs"—natural depressions where water collects and spills over in the form of small waterfalls. The cave's interior is illuminated with modern lighting, allowing us to fully enjoy the sight.

Just a few kilometers away lies the village of Sirogojno and the unique "Staro Selo" (Old Village) open-air museum. We visited the log cabins, granaries, bakeries, and blacksmith workshops. Sirogojno is also world-renowned for its hand-knitted sheep's wool sweaters. I remember that such sweaters were also made in my hometown; housewives would go to factories to get the wool and knit the sweaters at home.

In the afternoon, we returned to the apartment, packed our things, and the whole group happily headed home. However, we had to stop and see Gostilje—the largest waterfall in Serbia—since it was on our way anyway. We also took a short walk through the forest.I will remember this weekend for a long time. It was wonderful with old friends.
