Monsaraz, Portugal

My photos today is from Monsaraz at night, Monsaraz is a civil parish on the right margin of the Guadiana River in Alentejo region near the border with Spain. Is one of best preserved old and villages in Portugal and have now only 658 residents. Good food, great wine, the megalithic monuments from pre-history and the views to the Guadiana River and Alqueva Dam are the highlights of this old village on the top of the hill in the deep Alentejo.

All photos were taken today and you can see in the first 4 photos some Christmas decorations that still in the village.

All the streets of Monsaraz still to be made of stone, more especially, schist, like all village, schist is the dominant stone.
