Three Meridas Park, Mérida - Venezuela Eng-Esp

Hello, dear friends of architecture and design, I hope you have an excellent start of the week. I am happy to share with you and invite you to know a little more about Merida, Venezuela and its architecture.

Did you know that there are 04 Méridas in the world? That's right and they are distributed in three continents. We find them in Spain, Mexico, Venezuela and the youngest one in the Philippines. How curious is that?

I recently came across a beautiful park called the Three Meridas Park, and until a few years ago, very little was said about the Merida located in the Philippines, the documentation usually referred to only three cities with that name and I imagine that this is the reason why the design of this park does not include it. Possibly, it will be in the future.

This park is located on Andres Bello Avenue, between Urbanization San Antonio and Las Tapias, is one of the parks that was recovered in recent years, is the ideal place to walk, enjoy nature and also know some architectural features of Merida, Spain, Venezuela and Mexico.

The park welcomes us with a huge sign. This sign is supported on a metal structure and consists of large 3D letters that form the word Merida, in bright colors, where each letter has images that represent some emblematic features of the state, starting with the flag, the Bolivar peak, Bolivar Square, the rectorate of the University of the Andes, the cable car and ending with a beautiful spectacled bear.

Behind the sign there is a free parking lot so you can park your vehicles with tranquility while enjoying the place and for those who do not have a vehicle, we have a bus stop where we find information about the park, on the world map highlighting the geographical location of each city called Merida. So access to the park could not be more comfortable and accessible for everyone.

Merida, Spain, the mother of all Merida, is represented by columns of classical architecture, very simple and of different heights. Undoubtedly, the architecture in Spain is majestic, unique and has influenced the architecture of many cities around the world, including my city. I have already mentioned the relevance of Spanish architects in the design and modernization of the historic center of the city, the best known of them, Manuel Mujica Millán. I have already reviewed some of his works in my blog.

In the background we have a billboard with photographs of some of Spain's architectural jewels, its flag and part of its culture, especially the traditions that are also practiced on this side of the world, such as the art of bullfighting.

A few meters away, our flag indicates that we have reached the area destined to represent my region. Here we have on a concrete pedestal in trapezoidal shape a rotating sphere. On one side we have Europe and on the other America.

To represent Merida, Venezuela they built a wall with a corridor that represents a traditional house, here we see some characteristics of typical architecture of the Andean region, picturesque houses of low height, with elongated front corridors and roof covered with Creole clay tiles, supported on columns and rustic wooden beams. This wall represents an ancient construction method of mud walls, tapias, which are very thick walls, as seen in their windows.

I love that the windows illustrate tourist landscapes such as the MucubajÍ lagoon, the frailejón, a symbol of the Andean flora, and the Mucuchí breed of dog, a breed native to Mérida.

Finally, we arrive at our last stop. This is Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, another city influenced by Spanish architecture. Mexico in this park is represented by a stone structure that resembles a truncated pyramid. On top of it they placed a huge stone carved with hieroglyphic representations. Here they tried to represent the marvelous archaeological sites of Mayan origin found in Yucatan.

I found the carved stone beautiful, a work of art.

Thus culminates our tour of this small park, which encourages us to know a little of the other cultures of these cities that share the same name. I loved visiting it, I had never had the opportunity and I will return whenever I can. It is a relaxing, quiet and cool place.

Hola, queridos amigos de arquitectura y diseño, espero tengan un excelente inicio de semana. Estoy feliz de compartir con ustedes e invitarlos a conocer un poco más de Mérida, Venezuela y su arquitectura.

¿Sabías que existen 04 Méridas en el mundo? Así es y están distribuidas en tres continentes. Las encontramos en España, México, Venezuela y la más joven en Filipinas. ¿Qué curioso verdad?

Hace poco conocí un hermoso parque llamado parque las tres Méridas, y es que hasta hace algunos años, se hablaba muy poco de la Mérida ubicada en Filipinas, la documentación normalmente hacía referencia a solo tres ciudades con ese nombre e imagino que esta es la razón por la cual en el diseño de ese parque esta no se incluye. Posiblemente, lo hagan en el futuro.

Este parque está ubicado en la Avenida Andrés Bello, entre la Urbanización San Antonio y las Tapias, es uno de los parques que fue recuperado en los últimos años, es el sitio ideal para caminar, disfrutar de la naturaleza y además conocer algunas características arquitectónicas de Mérida, España, Venezuela y México.

El parque nos recibe con un enorme letrero. Este letrero se encuentra apoyado sobre una estructura metálica y consta de grandes letras en 3D que forma la palabra Mérida, en colores llamativos, donde cada letra tiene imágenes que representan algunas características emblemáticas del Estado, comenzando por la bandera, el pico Bolívar, la plaza Bolívar, el rectorado de la Universidad de los Andes, el teleférico y finalizando con un hermoso oso frontino.

Detrás del letrero existe un estacionamiento gratuito para que puedan estacionar sus vehículos con tranquilidad mientras disfrutan del lugar y para los que no tenemos vehículo, tenemos una parada de autobús donde encontramos información del parque, en el mapamundi resaltan la ubicación geográfica de cada ciudad llamada Mérida. Así que el acceso al parque no puede ser más cómodo y accesible para todos.

Mérida, España, la madre de todas las Mérida, está representada por unas columnas de la arquitectura clásica, muy sencillas y de diferentes alturas. Sin duda, la arquitectura en España es majestuosa, única y ha influenciado la arquitectura de muchas ciudades del mundo, entre ellas mi ciudad. Ya he mencionado, la relevancia de arquitectos españoles en el diseño y modernización del centro histórico de la ciudad, el más conocido de ellos, Manuel Mujica Millán. Algunas de sus obras ya las he reseñado en mi blog.

Al fondo tenemos una valla con las fotografías de algunas joyas arquitectónicas de España, su bandera y parte de su cultura, especialmente las tradiciones que también se practican de este lado del mundo, como el arte taurino.

A pocos metros, nuestra bandera nos indica que hemos llegado al área destinada para representar mi región. Aquí tenemos sobre un pedestal de concreto en forma trapezoidal una esfera giratoria. De un lado tenemos Europa y de la otra América.

Para representar a Mérida, Venezuela construyeron una pared con un pasillo que representa una casa tradicional, aquí vemos algunas características de arquitectura típica de la región andina, casas pintorescas de baja altura, con alargados pasillos frontales y cubierta de techo con tejas de arcillas criollas, apoyada sobre columnas y vigas rústicas de madera. Esta pared representa un antiguo método constructivo de paredes de barro, tapias, que son paredes de gran espesor, como se ve en esta ventana.

Me encanta que las ventanas ilustren paisajes turísticos como la laguna de MucubajÍ, el frailejón, símbolo de la flora andina y la raza de perros Mucuchíes, una raza autóctona de Mérida.

Finalmente, llegamos a nuestra última parada. Se trata de Mérida, Yucatán, en México, otra ciudad influenciada por la arquitectura española. México en este parque está representado por una estructura en piedra que se asemeja a una pirámide truncada. En la parte superior de la misma colocaron una enorme piedra tallada con representaciones jeroglíficas. Aquí intentaron representar los maravillosos sitios arqueológicos de origen maya que se encuentran en Yucatán.

La piedra tallada me pareció hermosa, una obra de arte.

Así culmino nuestro recorrido por este pequeño parque, que nos incentiva a conocer un poco de las demás culturas de estas ciudades que comparten el mismo nombre. Me encantó, visitarlo, nunca había tenido la oportunidad y volveré cada vez que pueda. Es un sitio relajante, tranquilo y fresco.
