From the moment you enter the Main Market in the city of Mérida, you breathe art. Here you can enjoy a variety of handicrafts, paintings, and sculptures, especially in wood, by regional artists. It is impossible not to get lost among so many incredible pieces.

As if that were not enough, we found this gallery that I simply loved and where I spent a good time admiring these wonderful works. The first thing we found was a giant wooden spinning top. This is a traditional Venezuelan toy, a very special one in the childhood of many.

I really liked the wooden sculptures, they have a lot of details and a great finish. But my favorites are the sculptures made in metal, with recycled materials. Especially, those pieces that seem to represent a dog and a cat, by joining different geometric figures.

My favorite part, are the different paintings, especially that colorful collection of faces. But, if I could buy one, I would take the painting of the sleeping child, where he seems to represent his dreams. That painting in particular fascinated me.

Desde que entras al Mercado Principal de la ciudad de Mérida, respiras arte. Aquí podemos disfrutar de diversas artesanías, pinturas y esculturas, sobre todo en madera, de artistas regionales. Es imposible no perderse entre tantas piezas increíbles.

Como si fuera poco, encontramos esta galería que simplemente me encantó y donde pasé un buen rato admirando estas maravillosas obras. Lo primero que encontramos fue un trompo gigante de madera. Este es un juguete tradicional venezolano, uno muy especial en la infancia de muchos.

Me gustaron mucho las esculturas de madera, tienen muchos detalles y un gran acabado. Pero mis favoritas son las esculturas realizadas en metal, con materiales de reciclaje. Sobre todo, esas piezas que parecen representar a un perro y un gato, al unir distintas figuras geométricas.

Mi parte favorita, son las distintas pinturas, sobre todo esa colección tan colorida de rostros. Pero, si pudiese comprar uno, me llevaría el cuadro del niño durmiendo, donde pareciera representar a sus sueños. Ese cuadro en particular me fascinó.

Como ven en esta galería encontramos de todo un poco, según sus dueños, todos los autores son artistas regionales, de gran talento. Todos los créditos a ellos.
