A new experience at Los Chorros de Milla Park Eng - Esp

In the middle of the carnival celebration, my family and I escaped to the Chorros de Milla park, located in the northern part of the city of Merida, Venezuela. I had exactly two years without going to this beautiful place, without imagining that I would be surprised with all the new things it has to offer.

After paying the entrance fee to this park, which costs $3 for adults and $2 for children, we started our tour, while the lush vegetation and the mountain climate welcomed us. At the beginning we found a mini contact farm, a new area that I had heard about, but had not had the opportunity to know.

We loved this mini farm, having contact with these beautiful animals, feeding them, petting them and interacting with them feels great. They are very spoiled. Here we found llamas, rabbits, goats, ducks and a sweet ostrich. Also small horses and a very sleepy little pig. In this area, my son enjoyed a lot and was filled with tenderness and admiration for all the farm animals.

En medio de la celebración del carnaval, mi familia y yo nos escapamos al parque los Chorros de Milla, ubicado en la zona norte de la ciudad de Mérida, Venezuela. Tenía exactamente dos años sin ir a este bello lugar, sin imaginar que me sorprendería con todo lo nuevo que tiene por ofrecer.

Después de cancelar la entrada a este parque, la cual tiene un costo de 3 $ adultos y 2 $ niños, iniciamos nuestro recorrido, mientras la frondosa vegetación y ese clima de montaña nos daba la bienvenida. Al inicio nos encontramos con una mini granja de contacto, un área nueva de la que había escuchado, pero no había tenido la oportunidad de conocer.

Esta mini granja nos encantó, tener contacto con estos bellos animales, alimentarlos, acariciarlos e interactuar con ellos se siente muy bien. Están muy consentidos. Aquí encontramos llamas, conejos, cabras, patos y un dulce avestruz. También caballos pequeños y un cerdito muy dormilón. En esta zona, mi hijo disfruto un montón y se llenó de ternura y admiración por todos los animalitos de la granja.

Walking through each green trail is fascinating, each one is the perfect canvas to capture special moments with the family and in them you can also discover and meet several species of animals that are sheltered here. My favorite part is the bear area, because it is large and outdoors, it doesn't give you that feeling of a caged animal which honestly is something I don't like very much.

One of the things they have recently included in the park are new activities for those who love adrenaline, like the zip lines and now the extreme swing, the swing is located high up in the trees, they put all the safety equipment so you can swing with confidence. You would be encouraged.

Recorrer cada sendero verde es fascinante, cada uno es el lienzo perfecto para capturar momentos especiales con la familia y en ellos también puedes descubrir y conocer varias especies de animales que aquí se encuentran resguardados. Mi parte favorita es el área de osos, porque es grande y está al aire libre, no te da esa sensación de animal enjaulado que sinceramente es algo que no me gusta mucho.

Una de las cosas que han incluido recientemente en el parque son nuevas actividades para quienes aman la adrenalina, como las tirolesas y ahora el columpio extremo, el columpio está situado en lo alto de los árboles, te colocan todo el equipo de seguridad para que puedas mecerte con confianza. Te animarías.

Besides that natural and fresh environment, we find art in every corner, especially wooden sculptures in the shape of animals, like this beautiful armadillo, I really enjoy art in all its expressions and I find the wooden sculptures incredible, best of all is that on each visit there is something new to discover and admire.

Además de ese ambiente natural y fresco, encontramos arte en cada rincón, especialmente esculturas de madera en forma de animales, como este hermoso armadillo, disfruto mucho del arte en todas sus expresiones y las esculturas de madera me parecen increíble, lo mejor de todo es que en cada visita hay algo nuevo por descubrir y admirar.

Of course, we stopped at the huge stone boat, with a beautiful mermaid in front. I love how they gave life to this huge stone and turned it into an artistic piece that certainly invites you to go up and take many photos for the memory.

Por supuesto, que nos detuvimos en el inmenso barco de piedra, con una bella sirena al frente. Me encanta como le dieron vida a esta enorme piedra y la convirtieron en una pieza artística que sin duda te invita a subir y tomarte muchas fotos para el recuerdo

Along the route, we can find a series of kiosks where you can enjoy a typical dessert, a drink or take a souvenir, here we find everything from beautiful handmade jewelry to toys.

A lo largo del recorrido, podemos encontrar una serie de kioscos donde puedes deleitarte con algún postre típico, alguna bebida o llevarte algún recuerdo, aquí encontramos de todo, desde lindas joyas artesanales, hasta juguetes.

In addition to learning about the fauna and the animal kingdom, it is the perfect place for a good hike and if you visit the park in summer you can access the waterfall area. To get to them we start climbing stairs, with high steps and some of them very steep. The path is not difficult, but it is better to be careful. Halfway up, we find the first waterfall formed by the Milla River. I love it because when you get to them you feel the sensation of being inside a cave and is that this area has a very particular geology, many rocks and the passage of water has shaped it over the years.

Además de conocer sobre la fauna y el reino animal, es el sitio perfecto para una buena caminata y es que si visitas el parque en verano te dejan acceder al área de cascadas. Para llegar a ellas comenzamos a subir escaleras, con peldaños elevados y algunas de gran pendiente. El camino no es difícil, pero es mejor ir con cuidado. A mitad del camino, encontramos la primera cascada que forma el río Milla. Me encanta porque cuando llegas a ellas sientes la sensación de estar dentro de una cueva y es que esta zona tiene una geología muy particular, muchas rocas y el paso del agua le ha dado forma con los años.

We continue advancing and after a lot of stairs, which steal your breath step by step, we reach the second waterfall to which we can have access, but not the last. Here you can only feel the satisfaction of having the opportunity to admire it. Its course and size may vary seasonally, but always the water and its strength leave traces of its passage.

Besides satisfaction, it is inevitable not to feel happy and calm. The sound of the water is relaxing and the vegetation surrounding these mountains fills you with peace. I love being able to admire these natural spaces and isolate myself for a few minutes from the noise of the city. My son and I get quite close and enjoy this water as clear and pure as the air we breathe here.

Seguimos avanzando y después de un montón de escaleras, que te roban el aliento peldaño a peldaño, llegamos a la segunda cascada a la que podemos tener acceso, pero no es la última. Aquí solo puedes sentir la satisfacción de tener la oportunidad de admirarla. Su cauce y su tamaño pueden variar por temporadas, pero siempre el agua y su fuerza dejan huellas de su paso.

Además de satisfacción, es inevitable no sentirse feliz y tranquila. El sonido del agua es relajante y la vegetación que rodea estas montañas te llena de paz. Me encanta, poder admirar estos espacios naturales y aislarme por algunos minutos del ruido de la ciudad. Mi hijo y yo nos acercamos bastante y disfrutamos de esta agua tan clara y pura como el aire que se respira aquí.

The way back becomes more of a challenge for me. I don't know why I always have that feeling that I might fall. At the top of the stairs, the old bridge awaits us, a place where it is inevitable to take pictures. And in this park art is not only manifested in objects, several artists come and show their talent, like this silver woman, with a lost look, who stands still for hours on this bridge, representing the mythological history of this place.

El camino de regreso se convierte en un desafío mayor para mí. No sé por qué siempre tengo esa sensación de que puedo caerme. Al inicio de las escaleras, nos espera el antiguo puente, un sitio donde es inevitable tomarse fotos. Y en este parque el arte no solo se manifiesta en objetos, varios artistas se acercan y demuestran su talento, como esta mujer plateada, con mirada perdida, que se queda inmóvil por horas en este puente, representando la historia mitológica de este lugar.

Another thing I noticed is that they recently restored some of the walkways. They are newly paved. Something that surprised me is that the terrarium is no longer free access, now you have to pay an extra fee. So it will be another opportunity to visit it.

Otra cosa que noté, es que restauraron recientemente algunas caminerías. Están recién pavimentadas. Algo que me sorprendió es que el terrario ya no es de libre acceso, ahora se debe cancelar un monto extra. Así que será en otra oportunidad que lo visitemos.

Thus culminated our tour to the zoological park Los Chorros de Milla, where we spent a special afternoon and where we were able to connect with nature and relax a little. But we didn't leave without saying hello to the king. This beautiful albino lion has grown a lot in two years.

Así culminó nuestro recorrido al parque zoológico Los chorros de Milla, donde pasamos una tarde especial y donde logramos conectar con la naturaleza y relajarnos un poco. Pero no nos fuimos sin antes saludar al rey. Este bello león albino que ha crecido muchísimo en dos años.

Without a doubt, visiting this park is a great plan if you are in Mérida.
