A morning at Ejido Mall - State of Merida Venezuela. ENG-ESP
Once again I am grateful to have the opportunity to greet you and share with you one more experience of my day to day life. On this occasion I want to share some pictures of the Ejido Mall, the largest shopping center in the town of Ejido, Campo Elias Municipality, Merida State.
This mall is about 30 min walking from my place of residence, it is located next to the Trolleybus Terminal which I wrote about a few months ago. At the end of Avenida Centenario. It is quite a nice place, where we can do our shopping, have a coffee, go for an ice cream or enjoy a nice meal.
It was inaugurated about 9 years ago, I do not know who was in charge of its design, but I remember that during its construction I used to walk a lot in this area and I liked to observe the different stages of its construction. Its execution was quite fast and it represented a great source of employment. It also boosted the economy of the municipality, which has been growing and developing progressively.

This Sunday, I decided to go for a walk with my son, buy some things he needed and take advantage of the good weather in the morning, to distract us and share some time together. As I mentioned before, we walked about 30 minutes to the mall, at a fairly slow pace, to keep up with my little son.
As you approach the mall, you can't help but think about how big this structure looks and how the central part breaks the continuity of its main façade, which as you can notice is formed by two large symmetrical rectangles lined with bricks. A facade a bit flat for my taste, but that works perfectly thanks to this central area, my favorite part of this structure.
This type of facades are designed to make the most of the space to install billboards, it is a pity that some are in poor condition and others were completely removed, because initially the billboards full of color and incredible images highlighted the beauty of the mall.

The walls of the stair core and main entrance are made of glass with geometric protrusions that give a modern touch to the shopping center, above it a roof deck, which does not go unnoticed by its pointed and protruding eaves. I really like this area for its colors, and how it contrasts with the rest of the structure and with the blue of the sky, for its materials and its geometric shapes that are pleasing to the eye.
My favorite part of the facade - Mi parte favorita de la fachada
I also like the side facade very much, we can see some panoramic glass windows, not so big and with protruding walls, some of them trapezoidal, which give a harmonic view to this side of the structure. I like the contrast between the yellow and the brick color.
While the rear facade is an elongated rectangle clad in brick and where we also find the sign and the logo of the shopping center.

The shopping center has a private parking lot, located in the semi-basement, it is quite comfortable and has security, it is not free, you have to pay to park, on the outside there is also a large parking lot where you can circulate comfortably.

Now let's take a look inside this great work.
The mall has a basement and three levels, the first thing we found is a nice sign indicating the name and floor level, each named with the natural symbols of the state (Ground Floor, Frontino in honor of the spectacled bear, Level 1 Frailejón and Level 3 Condor).
Internally, the mall is very spacious and comfortable, it is always very clean, the stores are large and separated by glass walls that give a complete view of the store from the hallway. On the first floor we find the main attractions of the mall, the Supermarket El Garzón and one of the best bakeries in the city, these two stores specifically attract a lot of the place.
In this visit I did not enter the Garzón, but I have visited it many times and it is a quite extensive area, with quite large lights, in its roof you can notice large trusses, of those used in the sheds.

I loved that they are already preparing for Christmas and most of the facilities are decorated, so I took the opportunity to take the first Christmas pictures of this year with my son.
The distribution of the stores and how wide and comfortable the aisles are, is another feature in favor of this mall, it is also very well lit and its lights create a very striking visual effect.
My son wanted to go to the park, so after touring the first floor, we went up to Level 1 called Frailejón, in honor of these plants of the Merida moor that represent the flora of the state. I noticed that many stores were closed and they were remodeling a large part of this floor, in the following picture we can see one of the spaces being remodeled, it seems that where the children's playground was located, now functions as an event room. But this allows me to show you the structural system of this building, which is made of reinforced concrete columns and beams, of good size and the mezzanine slabs are made of steel.
I did not imagine that the mezzanine slab was made of steel (you can learn more about this material on this website), although it is a material, very used nowadays, it is a type of galvanized steel sheets, which I have seen a lot in the construction of multifamily houses of few floors and in some stores, but with steel structures, it is quite light and it is more economical than a ribbed slab for example.
This level is more colorful and colorful than the ground floor, here is the food fair and now the children's park is also located in this area, the food fair is quite large and has a panoramic view, however, not all food stalls are currently operating, it needs a little more variety and thus attract more people.
I have never been up to the third floor, I think this level is only for administrative offices.
It has a core of concrete stairs with intermediate landings and aluminum handrails, as well as escalators located in opposite directions and an elevator system.
As you can see it is a pretty big place, where we can find as they say here "a little bit of everything", from ice cream shops, grocery stores, toy stores, cafes and I just discovered a baking school, so soon I will return again for information.
My experience inside the mall has always been satisfactory, I have been attended by very friendly and nice people, another thing I like is that it is equipped with many signs, where they point out the emergency exits, the correct use of escalators, exclusive areas for people with special conditions and all this, together makes it a place you want to return, beyond the design of its facilities.
I hope you have enjoyed my publication, I will be sharing some buildings in my region that catch my attention.

I loved the Mall Doris, it is very large, spacious, bright and beautiful architecture consistent with that beautiful city, as I would like to know and enjoy its people and recreation areas, the best thing is that you are practically around the corner and with the weather they have there must be a delicious walk. And your happy son looks just like you.
Thank you very much, yes it is quite nice and quite close. Although the road has many slopes. I hope you visit it when you come, it lacks more stores to make it more attractive, but it is very nice.
Thanks for your comment and I hope you have a great day.
Soon I think I will visit that beautiful land this coming year 2023. Thanks to you @doriangel

You're welcome @doriangel! Have a nice day 😊👍🌹
What a striking mall architecture @doriangel! It's great to know that the shopping center is just a walking distance from your residence. I'd always make a point to visit that establishment for groceries, leisure, or entertainment when the need arises due to its close proximity and convenience. 😊👍
Of all its exterior features, that pointed roof has definitely caught my attention! It reminded me of one renowned Architect by the name of Daniel Libeskind whose projects are designed in a relative fashion. Here's one of them:

What do you think about this peculiar design?
Thank you very much @storiesoferne , it is a great architectural work. Every time I can, I visit it, especially when I go out with my son. He likes the park, although he is still afraid of the inflatables.
Wuao! I just saw the page and I was amazed with the works of Daniel Libeskind, they are great, I am very struck by those geometric facades and you're right, they all have something pointy. Maybe the architect who designed that roof of the Ejido Mall was inspired by him a little bit.
It seems that the Architect Daniel Libeskind, likes to defy engineering and gravity, I loved all his works, especially this one you show me and also the Museum Residences. Thanks for showing me this page of architecture is very interesting.
I hope you have a great weekend.
Indeed @doriangel, the Architect of that mall must have probably been inspired by Daniel Libeskind who is a globally influential practitioner of architecture challenging the norms of physics and science. Thank you for your interesting feedback. Have a fruitful week ahead! 😊
when viewed from the outside it is extraordinary beautiful in a mall. if inside no less beautiful. when shopping there it is very comfortable to linger
Yes, spending some time there after shopping is great, even if it's just touring the place. Thank you very much.

Very cool, nice and detailed architecture post. I like the way of discussion and giving interesting points from the outside or inside of this mall. The impression that is written is also more personal because there are emotions and feelings when visiting that place.
I'm interested in discussing why this mall chose terracotta or brick motifs for the front, I've never seen anything like this. Usually, malls always use glass wall structures, or concrete or ceramic walls with more neutral colors.
Hello @isdarmady Well, I have seen this trend in the newest malls in my city, this siding is also common in several buildings in the country. Maybe, I will have the opportunity to visit another mall where they use this material in their finishes.
Do you like how it looks? Glass facades are beautiful .
oh, I think the culture and style of the local people influence the style of the building. But it's very cool, gives me a lot of new points of view for my knowledge.
Yes, I think it has a lot of influence, it is like the use of Creole tiles or clay tiles on roofs, it is something very common that has been maintained for years.
It is a very nice shopping center. You are right the central glass core is very striking, although to be honest I was more struck by the ad of the "Supermercado Garzón" is that this supermarket is in my homeland, very close to my mother's house and I was transported without wanting to San Cristóbal.
Yes, I had heard that in San Cristobal there is also Garzón. Here it is like the most important, there are four garzón, but I think that one of them, who were in a more distant municipality closed.
