Travel Post 51 - Guangzhou's Canton Tower, Opera House Outside + Library
Hi there. In this China travel post, our group check out the outside of Guangzhou's Canton Tower, Guangzhou Opera House and check out one of their libraries.
This was the day after our day trip to Zhuhai, China near Macau.
Getting To Guangzhou's Canton Tower
From the Guangzhou Metro system, you want to head to the Canton Tower station on Line 3. Line 3 is the orange line on the metro map.
I forgot which exit you go to at Canton Tower station. There are maps and signs at the station that show which exit corresponds to the Canton Tower. I took some pictures of some stuff outside the station.
Canton Tower Outside
I took some phone pictures of the Canton Tower as well as some family photos (not shown).
There are a few seniors who hang around the area that offer professional photo shoots. The price was something like 5 CAD for 2 photos. The woman we had took our photos and had a photo printer ready outside.
More photos of the Canton Tower were taken at a different area. These were taken from a farther distance near The Guangzhou Opera House.
Guangzhou Opera House Outside
From the Canton Tower station, we took the Automated People Mover Line (APM Line) and went to the Guangzhou Opera House station.
For the APM line you do need to enter another fare gate. Because of this we went with metro day passes for this day.
The APM train operates on its own with no driver.
Here are some pictures of the Guangzhou Opera House from the outside. (No inside visit).
Guangzhou Library
At Exit B of the Guangzhou Opera House station, there is a large library. This is the Guangzhou Library. The size of this library is very comparable to the Robarts Library at the University of Toronto. Very big.
I was somewhat surprised that there is a security check at the entrance. It makes sense though in order to protect students and everyone in the building. Here are a few inside pictures. It looks like a mall in some ways.
More posts to come. We later head out to the famous Beijing Road area in Guangzhou, China.
Thank you for reading.

What a charming tower and what modern buildings 💖💖
The buildings in Guangzhou and in general China are pretty nice. Check out their train stations too.
