Travel Post 28 - Hong Kong Day Part 2, Wong Tai Sin Temple
Hi there. In this travel post our travel group visits Wong Tai Sin Temple in Kowloon City in Hong Kong. I took a lot of pictures here. Much more than in my previous travel posts.
Wong Tai Sin is also called Sik Sik Yuen.
Getting To Wong Tai Sin Temple
The family friend gives us a tour guide around Hong Kong. At the time I did not know where we going. We trusted our family friend guide for this day trip. After the dimsum lunch we head to the Hong Kong metro subway. I took a few pictures.

Hong Kong's subway station is similar to China's metro system in the major cities. You have your track barriers to prevent jumping to the tracks. The payment system is similar to China's. It is distance base fares. You have to scan to get in and scan when exiting. The scanning for exiting is for the distance fares. Our travel guide friend sent me her spare metro card for topping up funds. This guide is an active senior around 70 to 80 years old. Her and many seniors in Hong Kong keep themselves fit and active through walking and metro for eating, shopping and socializing.
To get to Wong Tai Sin Temple you want to be on the Green line (Kowloon section) and get to Wong Tai Sin station. Here is the metro map. It is not as complex compared to the China megacities (Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou) but it is still more complex than Toronto's subway system.
Temple Pictures
Wong Tai Sin Temple has free admission. This temple area is quite nice as it provides a nice vibe away from the busyness of the Hong Kong streets. It was a hot summer day there so we did not want to stay for too long.
Entrance
When you enter the main busy area you will find people taking pictures, looking around and/or doing their prayers.

The variety of colours in this area is quite impressive. A lot of things stand out.

This temple area has one main part where it is busy. The less busy areas are still nice.

It is hard to believe that this has free admission. There is a lot of nice things to see here. Wong Tai Sin Temple was one of the biggest highlights in this Hong Kong day trip and in this trip overall.
More to come.
