Planta de la familia Commelinaceae.

Originaría de América (USA,Puerto Rico, Islas Vírgenes, etc...)

Esta planta se encuentra como maleza en algunos cultivos de soja, donde se usa exclusivamente glisofato para el control de las mismas.

Se le presupone a la Commelina erecta una alta tolerancia al grisofato
