您們聽過 Miffy(米飛兔)嗎?

Have you ever heard of Miffy? Honestly, I hadn’t heard of it before and didn’t have much of an impression until I randomly stumbled into this limited-time pop-up store. Miffy is actually a classic cartoon character from the Netherlands, created by the famous picture book author Dick Bruna in 1955. His original idea was to design a simple image that could attract young children. But thanks to the global village concept and international licensing, many countries now promote and sell Miffy-related merchandise. So nowadays, Miffy isn’t just loved by kids. It’s also gained a lot of attention and collectors among adults.

As I was checking out the Miffy figures more closely, Hello Kitty suddenly popped into my mind. Right! They’re quite similar—except one’s a rabbit, and the other’s a cat. Hello Kitty is a superstar product from the Japanese company Sanrio, and honestly, she seems way more well-known than Miffy. At least for me, I’d known about Hello Kitty for ages, but never really noticed Miffy until now. Still, I think both of them focus on cuteness and healing vibes, and each has its own charm and fanbase.

There was also a big capsule toy machine at the pop-up—just like the kind you see at other events. If you spent NT$300, you got a chance to win limited-edition Miffy merch, like collectible figures and such. And of course, there were the photo zones that girls love—several different setups based on scenes from Miffy’s stories. Fans could take pictures as if they were inside Miffy’s world. I’m guessing the event’s close to ending, so most fans probably already came to check it out. That worked out well though, because the whole space was really relaxing to walk around—no crowds or pushing.

To be honest, I originally walked in just for the air conditioning. But it turned out there was more than just merchandise—they also had a display of Miffy crossover creations by different artists. There were Miffys dressed in all kinds of quirky outfits: one in Hakka floral fabric, one in traditional Chinese opera style, one in a Christmas costume, and even one promoting eco-friendly ideas. There were seriously over a hundred Miffy figures on display, and if you want to take a good look at them all, you’d definitely need at least half an hour.
