When people hear "Wuri, Taichung", older guys might immediately think of Chenggongling; Chenggongling is a military training camp. For many men who had the “honor” of going there, it’s probably a tough but unforgettable memory. After finishing their training, the first thing they’d do was rush to Wuri Station. Because once you got to Wuri, home wasn’t far away. Fast forward to now, and when people mention Wuri, they’re more likely to think of the Taichung High-Speed Rail Station. It’s become a major transportation hub where the HSR, regular TRA trains, and the Taichung MRT Green Line all meet at the new Wuri Station. Plus, the biggest railway museum in Taiwan — Taiwan Railway Company is right here.

Inside the museum, you’ll find all kinds of nostalgic displays: old photos, tickets, uniforms, signal lights, train models, and other retro railway setups. The most eye-catching part has to be the full-size replica train cars. I bet train enthusiasts could spend hours just playing around with the different types of carriages. A lot of them also love collecting station stamps — and yes, this place has a bunch of those too, perfect for stamp collectors.

Not far from the museum entrance, there's a spot with a sign that says "Wuri Station." Around that area, a few vendors are set up under charming wooden stalls with a Japanese-style vibe. They sell all sorts of central Taiwan snacks and souvenirs — everything from classic goodies like sun cakes, pineapple cakes, and lemon cakes, to specialties from famous local shops like the Mochi King from Xiluo, who’s known for constantly improving the flavors and texture of mochi. These stalls aren’t just about food — they’re part of the whole travel experience.

To be honest though, there aren’t that many visitors inside the museum. My guess is that most travelers are in a hurry and don’t really have time to stop by, even though the Railway Story House offers tons of cool railway-themed merchandise. It’s probably just the hardcore train fans who take their time to really appreciate everything in there.
