Strolling through the food market

After finishing our meal, my friend mentioned that there was a limited-time food market nearby and asked if I wanted to check it out together — you know, to walk off some of what we’d just eaten. She said the event was organized by an Instagram food account called @4foodie, which has around 700,000 followers. The creators are known for sharing beautiful snapshots of their dining experiences, and through this event, they wanted to bring those “deliciously photogenic” moments into real life for food lovers to experience firsthand.
The venue was divided into two sections — a ticketed exhibition area and a free market area. At the entrance stood two giant faces with their mouths wide open, as if ready to devour us — very fitting for a foodie-themed event. My friend told me that inside, the layout was divided into zones named “Mouth”、“Brain”、“Stomach”、“Guts” and “Heart”, but honestly, no one seemed to be following that order. People just wandered to whatever booth caught their eye. Some vendors were really friendly, offering samples to passersby. We tried a sip of beer. It had a fruity aroma mixed with bitterness, but I can’t say I really liked it.
Since we’d already eaten before coming, we couldn’t fit in much more food. Still, we could tell that the booths were quite creative. One that stood out was “Jade Rabbit Sukiyaki”, a Kansai-style sukiyaki restaurant, but here they were selling sukiyaki mousse cones. Instead of ice cream, the cones were filled with beef or pork sukiyaki; can you imagine that? Another well-known café, No Worries Café, also joined the event. They were selling bottled cocktails decorated with bright, colorful designs. That is not what I expected from them, but surprisingly stylish.
Maybe because the organizers are Instagram food influencers, most of the food on-site had a strong visual appeal and attention-grabbing presentation. Unfortunately, it was way too hot that afternoon. For an outdoor market like this, it probably would’ve been much livelier at night. Under the afternoon sun, people just didn’t seem to have much appetite. After making one round through the stalls, my friend and I escaped into a nearby department store for some air conditioning. Coincidentally, it was their anniversary sale, so we figured — why not see if we could score a few good deals while cooling off?
