一探 KIKI ISLAND 快閃店 / Exploring KIKI ISLAND Pop-Up Store

In recent years, all kinds of IP pop-up stores have become a major marketing trend in the creative and cultural industry. If you've read my previous posts about the pop-up stores I've visited, you've probably noticed how much this trend has grown. These limited-time events not only help make characters more popular but also boost sales of their merchandise. Personally, I love visiting pop-up stores. It is not because I'm planning to buy a bunch of stuff, but because every event gives me a chance to discover new creative characters. Many organizers design different themes based on the season, holidays, or the character's unique style. Even if I don't buy anything, I still enjoy taking my time to look around and appreciate the creativity and effort that went into the displays.
This time, I got to know a new character called KiKi QUOKKA. It's inspired by the Australian quokka. Some of you may not know this, but quokkas are often called "the happiest animals in the world". According to National Geographic, they look like adorable stuffed animals and always seem to have an irresistible smile on their faces, which is where the nickname comes from. Before this, I thought Australia was mainly known for kangaroos and koalas. I had no idea quokkas even existed, so I definitely learned something new! The designer cleverly incorporated the quokka into a wide range of everyday products. Besides plush toys, there are also stationery items, mugs, tote bags, keychains, cushions, and many other cute products that let fans bring a little happiness into their daily lives.
On top of that, the organizers transformed the entire venue into a beach and surfing-themed space, which perfectly matched the hot summer weather. As soon as you walked in, it felt like stepping into a sunny vacation spot filled with beaches, ocean breezes, and relaxing summer vibes. Combined with KiKi QUOKKA's cheerful smile, every corner of the venue felt warm and soothing. Besides selling exclusive merchandise, the pop-up store also featured interactive photo spots and a popular lucky draw. Each draw cost NT$200, which I thought was a pretty reasonable price—not exactly cheap, but not expensive either. It made the whole experience feel more like a treasure hunt than just a shopping trip. That said, I noticed quite a few items had already sold out. Fans who showed up late were probably pretty disappointed!
