Exploring Taipei International Toy Show (Part 5)

This was interesting! There was actually a treasure hunting area at the toy expo. I had to take a closer look and see what kind of treasures I could find. After squeezing my way through the huge crowd, I realized it was a clearance zone for designer toys. The discounts were pretty crazy—most of the items were marked down by 50%.
Even with such huge discounts, there were still plenty of rare collectibles. For example, an original Star Wars collectible model that normally costs around NT$10,000 was selling for about NT$5,000. Jujutsu Kaisen prize figures that usually cost around NT$5,000 were down to roughly NT$2,000. If you took your time browsing, you could also find figures from Gundam, One Piece, Dragon Ball, and many other popular series.
I honestly couldn't figure out why these high-end collectibles were being sold at such steep discounts. There were also lucky bags for sale. They looked pretty affordable at first—starting at just NT$1,000. But then I thought about it... wait a second, is a NT$1,000 lucky bag really that cheap?
I was also surprised to see the Ark Toy Exchange here. It's a well-known marketplace in Taiwan for designer toys, art toys, and vintage collectibles. I've visited it several times before at cultural parks and creative exhibitions. It's one of the best places to find nostalgic toys and anime merchandise.
The stall owners are probably the most interesting part of the market. Many of them are serious toy collectors who simply bring their personal collections to share with fellow enthusiasts. Selling things isn't always their main goal. That's why you'll often see "Not for Sale" signs on some of the coolest items. They're just showing them off! Because of that, it's not unusual to come across incredibly rare or even dream collectibles.
Spirit King is a Taiwanese trading card game. The gameplay is somewhat similar to Yu-Gi-Oh!. Players build a deck of exactly 20 cards using a single race along with a leader card before battling each other. The first time I heard about Spirit King was at a board game café. Back then, you could get a free promo card just by joining one of the events. Since then, I've often seen tournaments and promotional activities at board game stores and anime conventions. The game also had its own booth at this expo with several special activities. I was thinking about joining one of them or at least checking it out, but there were simply too many designer toys and collectibles I wanted to see. I didn't want to spend too much time away from the exhibition floor.
After walking around the entire venue, I noticed something unexpected. Swan Panasia, which almost always has a booth at major exhibitions and conventions, wasn't here this time. That definitely caught me by surprise.
