My Hero Academia is a hero-themed shonen manga. I once watched a video where a well-known manga reviewer described it as a very “classic” or “by-the-book” kind of series. In shonen manga, that usually means it focuses a lot on adventure and battles, while delivering an inspiring story with positive messages. Simply put, it’s about good versus evil—where good ultimately wins, and it strongly emphasizes themes like passion, friendship, and hard work. Stories like this tend to get boys especially hyped and totally hooked.

This series ran for about ten years and wrapped up a few years ago. For completed manga, if you have the time to binge-read the whole thing in one go, it’s honestly super satisfying. And since the main story has ended, a lot of spin-offs, like anime, movies, novels, and video games, have gradually been released to keep the hype going. For fans who followed the series during its run, these extra works feel like bonus content that lets them dive deeper into the characters and the world. In a way, it’s a win-win for both the creators and the fans.

As for me, I read this manga on and off, so I have a basic understanding of it. That’s why I still felt a bit excited when I visited this exhibition. It had free admission, and right at the entrance, there were large posters of the main characters. A lot of people were lining up to take photos with their favorite characters. Another big highlight of the exhibition was the wide variety of merchandise. Some items, like collaboration perfumes, are super rare and hard to find on the market, and they’re mostly collected by hardcore fans. Even though I’ve read the series, I’m not really into collecting merch, so I was just browsing casually. But as I looked through everything, it actually brought back memories of how I felt when I first read the manga.
