男孩就是喜歡車 / Boys just love cars

很多男孩從小對車子就有一種自然的好奇與吸引力，小時候的玩具中，一定有好幾輛玩具車，在玩具店裡，小汽車往往是男孩最先伸手拿起的玩具，從小小的塑膠車，到可以組裝的模型車，都忍不住把玩一番，只要在路上，聽見引擎聲響，就會忍不住停下腳步，多看幾眼，隨著年紀增長，有些人開始分辨不同品牌，知道哪一款跑車外型流線、哪一種越野車適合山路，坐在副駕駛座時，就會偷偷觀察大人如何轉方向盤、踩煞車、看後照鏡，想像著如何開車。

和朋友飯後閒逛時，在某美術館前，有一輛汽車展示，我和朋友忍不住上前圍觀，說實話，我對車子不太懂，但是展示的汽車，應該是名車，聽朋友說，是一台藍寶堅尼（Lamborghini）的跑車，價錢大概在 3000萬台幣左右，我聽到後，倒吸一口氣，這價錢都可以買上一棟熱門地段的房屋了，不過，光看那上掀的車門設計，我就覺得很酷，跑車的外觀也很酷炫，馬力應該很頂級，開起它在路上奔馳，應該很爽。

想到前一陣子，有個法拍詐騙集團名下的頂級名車的新聞，總共有32輛豪車參與拍賣，也是一大堆人過去撿便宜，沒想到，其中最頂級的豪車也是拍賣出上億台幣的價錢，貧窮真是限制我的想像力了，雖然很多男人都喜歡擁有一部跑車，喜愛那種風從窗邊掠過的感覺，對我而言，汽車只是代步工具，只要能夠到達目的地，甚麼交通工具都好。

A lot of boys seem to have a natural curiosity and attraction toward cars from a very young age. When they’re kids, there are usually several toy cars among their toys. In toy stores, little cars are often the first thing boys reach for. From tiny plastic cars to model kits that can be assembled, they just can’t help picking them up and playing with them. Even on the street, whenever they hear the sound of an engine, they often stop and take a few extra looks. As they grow older, some start recognizing different brands, knowing which sports car has a sleek design and which SUV is better for mountain roads. Sitting in the passenger seat, they secretly watch how adults turn the steering wheel, hit the brakes, and check the mirrors, imagining what it would feel like to drive one themselves.

The other day, after dinner, I was walking around with a friend and saw a car on display in front of an art museum. We both couldn’t help going closer to take a look. Honestly, I don’t know much about cars, but the one on display was clearly something special. My friend told me it was a Lamborghini sports car, probably worth around NT$30 million. When I heard that, I literally gasped — that amount of money could buy a house in a prime location. But just looking at those upward-opening doors, I had to admit it looked incredibly cool. The whole body of the car looked futuristic and aggressive, and I imagine the horsepower must be insane. Driving something like that on the road must feel amazing.

It also reminded me of a recent news story about luxury cars seized from a fraud group and put up for auction. There were 32 luxury cars in total, and a lot of people showed up hoping to grab a bargain. But surprisingly, even the most expensive car in that auction was sold for over NT$100 million. That kind of price really makes me feel like poverty limits my imagination.

Although many men dream of owning a sports car and enjoying that feeling of wind rushing past the window, for me, a car is simply a way to get from one place to another. As long as it gets me to my destination, any kind of transportation works just fine.
